False Positive director John Lee is responding to critics.

The new Hulu film stars Ilana Glazer and Justin Theroux as a young couple who seemingly find their perfect fertility doctor, played by Pierce Brosnan, only to discover that he has sinister intentions.

Some reviews have noted the similarity between the movie’s plot and Roman Polanski‘s 1968 thriller Rosemary’s Baby.

In an interview with The Wrap on Monday (July 5), John Lee shared his thoughts on the comparisons.

The debut trailer for False Positive on Hulu has just debuted, and we’re getting some major Rosemary’s Baby vibes from it!

Here’s a synopsis: After months of trying and failing to get pregnant, Lucy (Ilana Glazer) and Adrian (Justin Theroux) finally find their dream fertility doctor in the illustrious Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan). But after becoming pregnant with a healthy baby girl, Lucy begins to notice something sinister through Hindle’s gleaming charm, and she sets out to uncover the unsettling truth about him, and her own “birth story.” As if getting pregnant weren’t complicated enough…

Sophia Bush also stars in the upcoming thriller.

Ilana Glazer and Justin Theroux will star in the upcoming movie False Positive, which was just acquired by Hulu to be released in 2021!

The A24 movie was co-written and produced by Glazer and John Lee, who will also direct the film.

Ilana and Justin are set to play a married couple who are on a fertility journey, but something sinister is going on with their fertility doctor.

Here is the movie’s synopsis: “After several attempts of trying and failing to get pregnant, Lucy (Glazer) and Adrian (Theroux) finally find their dream fertility doctor in the illustrious Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan). But after becoming pregnant with a healthy baby girl, Lucy begins to notice something sinister through Hindle’s gleaming charm, and she sets out to uncover the unsettling truth about him, and her own ‘birth story.’ As if getting pregnant weren’t complicated enough…”

Also starring in the film are Gretchen Mol, Sophia Bush, and Josh Hamilton.
