Jez Butterworth Goes Off Script at Tonys 2019 to Thank Partner Laura Donnelly

During this year's Tony Awards, the writers of all the nominated plays have been given a chance to talk about their shows on stage.

Jez Butterworth, the playwright of The Ferryman, went off script during his moment on stage to instead thank his partner Laura Donnelly, the star of the play.

"I don't care if you see my play or not, I'm just gonna talk," Jez said while telling the audience to Google the play if they want to know more.

Jez applauded Laura for having two kids while performing in the show over the past couple years in both the West End and Broadway productions of the play.

Laura, who was nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play, stunned on the carpet in a purple dress. Also in attendance was co-star Fionnula Flanagan, who was nominated for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play.
