Frank Bielec Dead - 'Trading Spaces' Designer Dead at 72

Frank Bielec, one of the longtime stars of the TLC home makeover series Trading Spaces, has sadly passed away at the age of 72.

TMZ reports that Frank died on Friday (May 15) after suffering a heart attack. He was transported to a hospital in Texas, but they weren’t able to save his life.

Frank‘s wife Judy told TMZ that “the surgical team dissolved into tears when they couldn’t save Frank.”

There will be no funeral service for Frank, who will be cremated. His ashes will be “put inside a round wooden box and placed on top of a fireplace in their home.”

Frank appeared on every season of Trading Spaces as a designer and he also was on the 2018 reboot. We’re sending our thoughts and condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time.

Just one month ago, the Trading Spaces cast had a virtual reunion amid quarantine.

The original cast of TLC’s beloved Trading Spaces reunited for a special Zoom session on Saturday (April 4) amid the ongoing global health crisis.

Paige Davis, Ty Pennington, Carter Oosterhouse, Genevieve Gorder, Doug Wilson, Laurie Smith, Hildi Santo-Tomas, Vern Yip, Frank Bielec, Andy Obeck, Rob Marish and Randall Tang all came together for the digital reunion.

“My favorite Brady Bunch. Happy Birthday @hildisantotomas and to my Trading Spaces Fam….I beat my chest and bow. I LOVE YOU!” Genevieve wrote on Instagram, along with a screenshot of their chat.

Trading Spaces aired on TLC from 2000 to 2008, followed by a revival series in 2018 on Discovery Channel with Paige as the host, with much of the former cast returning for the reboot.

The cast of this beloved show also recently reunited amid the pandemic.
