Johnny Depp Premieres 'Waiting for the Barbarians' at Venice Film Festival!

Johnny Depp hits the red carpet in a suit while attending the screening premiere of his film Waiting For The Barbarians held during the 2019 Venice Film Festival at Sala Grande on Friday (September 6) in Venice, Italy.

The 56-year-old actor was joined at the event by his co-stars Mark Rylance and Gana Bayarsaikhan, as well as the film’s director Ciro Guerra and actress Sylvia Hoeks.

The film is the first English-language movie for Colombian director, Ciro Guerra and the screenplay is by J.M. Coetzee. In Waiting for the Barbarians, Johnny Depp plays the ruthless Colonel Joll, a torturer who is in charge of the security situation on the border and who clashes with a morally upright magistrate.

Earlier in the day, Johnny rocked a different suit to attend the photo call for the film.

Johnny Depp is dapper in a blue suit while attending the photo call for his upcoming film Waiting for the Barbarians held during the 2019 Venice Film Festival on Friday (September 6) in Venice, Italy.

The 56-year-old actor was joined at the event by his co-stars Mark Rylance and Gana Bayarsaikhan, as well as the film’s director Ciro Guerra.

In Waiting for the Barbarians, Johnny Depp plays the ruthless Colonel Joll, a torturer who is in charge of the security situation on the border and who clashes with a morally upright magistrate.

“When Ciro came up with that shape… They were threatening; they were menacing somehow,” Johnny expressed about the metal shoes he wears for his character (via Variety). “He wore them to make the magistrate as uncomfortable as possible.”

The evening before, Johnny joined his Waiting for the Barbarians team at their special honor dinner during the 2019 Venice Film Festival at Centurion Palace.
