Gaten Matarazzo is recovering well after a successful surgery!
The 17-year-old Stranger Things actor took to Instagram on Thursday (January 30) to reveal that he underwent another surgery for for Cleidocranial Dysplasia (CCD).
âSurgery number 4! This is a big one! To learn more about Cleidocranial Dysplasia and how you can help those with the condition you can go to ccdsmiles.org,â Gaten wrote along with a selfie of himself in a hospital bed.
Cleidocranial Dysplasia (CCD) is a rare genetic disorder that affects the growth of bones and teeth, which Gaten has had since birth.
A few days after the surgery, Gaten provided an update on how it went.
"Though my expression in this picture may not show it, the surgery was a complete successđ. This was such A big one, it may be the last one I need. Hopefully at least," Gaten wrote. "Those who suffer from Cleidocranial Dysplasia usually have Supernumerary teeth, which are extra teeth that grow in the gums. Iâve had several surgeries to extract these teeth from within my gums and help expose the teeth that should have already grown in considering my age. In this surgery, the team of amazing medical professionals extracted 14 supernumerary teeth and exposed six of my adult teeth. I was under for four hours. My recovery for the past few days has been great and I canât thank the team that did the surgery enough. Thank you all for your kind wishes and prayers. It means a lot. The 17-year-old actor shared his thoughts while stopping by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday (October 31).
"I have no idea what any of [the teaser] means," Gaten told host Jimmy Fallon. "No, genuinely, I do not. I want to know."
"I want Dustin to be completely out of the loop... for like the whole season," Gaten said about his character, Dustin Henderson. "Maybe that just means that Dustin's in Florida and, like, every 20 minutes it just cuts to him on Space Mountain."
Gaten also opened up about his other Netflix series Prank Encounters and his senior year of high school, and he did a duet of The NeverEnding Story theme with Jimmy Fallon, inspired by the scene from season three of Stranger Things.

Netflix has officially renewed Stranger Things for a fourth season and a new announcement video is teasing a big detail about the upcoming storyline.
After the title for Stranger Things 4 is shown, the season's tagline is revealed: "We're Not in Hawkins Anymore." It sounds like the fourth season is going to take us somewhere new!
Netflix has also announced that Stranger Things creators The Duffer Brothers have signed an overall deal with the streaming service.
