The Weeknd Will Still Boycott The Grammys Despite Disbanding Of Secret Committees

Over the weekend, the trustees of the Recording Academy voted Friday (April 30) to disband nominations review committees and let Grammy voters have the final say in all non-craft categories.

The decision came after The Weeknd criticized The Grammys earlier this year, after his album, After Hours, failed to secure any nominations.

The secret committees, for years, had determined who the nominees would be for major categories.

The Recording Academy added that the categories would now be “determined by a majority, peer-to-peer vote of voting members of the Recording Academy.”

However, The Weeknd is still boycotting the show.

Taylor Swift Had a Wardrobe Malfunction During the 2021 Grammys That You Probably Didn't Notice

Taylor Swift had a minor wardrobe malfunction while attending the 2021 Grammys, but you probably didn’t notice since she hid it really well!

The 31-year-old singer had a record-breaking evening at the Grammys, where she won the Album of the Year award for the third time. She’s now the only female artist to ever achieve that feat.

Taylor wore a long-sleeve Oscar de la Renta mini dress on the red carpet this year and it was embroidered with pressed flowers that were placed on the dress individually.

At some point during the evening, the seam under Taylor‘s right arm ripped and the tear was visible while she was posing with her Grammy at the end of the night. Fans just started pointing out the wardrobe malfunction, but it surely didn’t have a hinder on the singer’s big night!

Taylor just showed fans who sent her flowers after the show and it’s someone everyone loves.

Grammys Producer Tells Story Behind Beyonce's Appearance at the 2021 Show

The producer of the 2021 Grammys telecast is opening up with some behind-the-scenes stories from this year’s show, including how Beyonce‘s appearance happened.

It was previously announced that Beyonce would not be performing at the show and most fans assumed that she wouldn’t be there at all.

Grammys executive producer Ben Winston chatted with Variety about the show and was asked if he was concerned about Bey and Jay-Z not showing up.

“Look, you never know who’s gonna be there until the night, right? I had been told they were coming a couple of days before, but they’re the biggest icons in the world so until people walk through the door, you just don’t know. But I was so happy they were there, and I’m so happy that my first Grammys got to have that historic moment of tribute to her, in such an amazing way,” Ben said. “So did I punch the air when that happened, when she was onstage and Trevor darted in and announced that it was a [she had tied the all-time Grammy record for most wins by a female artist], and then she went on and won it a half hour later? Yes, that was a wonderful moment of everything coming together in a really beautiful way. The fact that all of those stars aligned for that moment was probably my biggest moment of excitement.”

Ben also talked about the first moment when Beyonce and Jay-Z were shown on camera, which was during a random audience shot.

He said, “Well, we did that a little bit on purpose. They were seated to one side, and we did that lovely steady [shot], it was really innocuous — I think we even put it in a mid-break, just to go, ‘Hey guys!’ It started with Taylor and then you see Dua and then Harry and then, ‘Hey! There’s Jay and Beyonce!’ and then we just cut to a break. ‘Wha?! What just happened?’”

Beyonce sent flowers to one of the night’s other Grammy winners!

Grammys 2021 Early Ratings Revealed, Lowest Ranked Viewership in History in Early Numbers

The ratings are in for the 2021 Grammy awards, which aired on Sunday (March 15) on CBS.

Unfortunately for the network, this year’s show was not a huge hit. According to Variety, it was the lowest rated Grammys in history.

The ceremony was hosted by Trevor Noah and featured performances from huge artists like Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, BTS, Billie Eilish, Post Malone and Megan Thee Stallion.

Despite the impressive lineup, ratings fell significantly from last year. An average of 7.88 million people tuned into the broadcast, with a 1.9 rating in adults 18-49.

In 2020, the show drew a 5.4 rating in the key demo and 18.7 million viewers, while the 2019 Grammys drew a 5.6 rating and 19.9 million viewers. The least-watched Grammys remains the 2006 ceremony, which was watched by 17 million people.

The outlet notes that these are still based on early reports from Nielsen Live+Same Day fast-affiliate numbers and that final numbers that take West Coast viewing into account will be available later today or tomorrow morning. The stats “will likely rise by 15-20%” after the time-zone adjustment.
