Hasan Minhaj's Comments About Dax Shepard Are Going Viral Again (For a Great Reason)

Almost a year ago, a Vanity Fair video was published featuring Patriot Act host Hasan Minhaj hooked up to a liar detector asking questions.

One of the questions he was asked was about Dax Shepard, and how he would rate him on a hotness scale. At one point in the past, Dax had rated Hasan as a 9 out of 10. Hasan then rated Dax a “6.57,” to which the lie detector administrator said “harsh.”

Hasan then explained, “Dax is part of a thing where, in show business, there’s this whole movement of approachable white dudes whereas with, like, men of color, it’s like Idris Elba, Henry Golding, Zayn Malik, or you work in IT. There’s no middle.”

“You know how there’s a whole class of white dudes, just like schlubby dudes who went to high school with me, but now made it in show biz? There no like that [for actors of color]. You gotta have, like, the V-taper in your abs if you’re gonna be Asian,” he continued. “You gotta be Daniel Dae Kim ripped. You can’t ever have bread or cereal.”

Hasan was then asked if he thinks he’s hotter than Dax, to which he responded, “Yes, but I will not get the same opportunities that Dax does. I’m so sorry, Dax.”

A fan saw the clip and reposted it one year later, and Hasan made another comment about it which you can see below. You can watch the entire video on Vanity Fair.

If you don’t know, this is not the first time Hasan went viral with a very important message. Check out what he said about that moment on The Ellen Show.

Hasan Minhaj Speaks About Why He Publicly Corrected Ellen DeGeneres on the Pronunciation of His Name

Hasan Minhaj publicly taught Ellen DeGeneres how to pronounce his name after she said it incorrectly on her talk show several months ago, and now Hasan is speaking out about why he corrected her. His name is pronounced Has-san Min-haj.

“Mom and Dad are sitting there [...] And Ellen‘s just like ‘Hey Ha-SAAN!’” Hasan said on his Netflix show Patriot Act. “I looked in the audience [...] and my mom who gave me that name is just like ‘eugh.’ And I’m like ‘Dude, what am I doing?’ I have a show with my f*cking name on it…

“And so I was like, ‘Alright, Ellen, just let’s do this right now.’ Cause we can pronounce Timothée Chalamet, so we’re gonna do this right now,” he continued. “So I’m gonna go on Ellen, the most American show ever, and make you hit all the syllables.”

His dad wasn’t happy with him publicly correcting Ellen, and Hasan said, “I think that’s the big difference between our generation and our parents’ generation. They’re always trying to survive. And I mean survival is the thing, so just go by whatever she calls you. And that’s cool. I think when Dad [...] came in ’82, he survived for us. But I’m trying to live. I mean, I’m trying to like ‘Yo Muhammad Ali, say my name. Like, say it.’”
