Hugh Bonneville Provides Update About 'Downton Abbey' Sequel Script

The Downton Abbey is still coming, Hugh Bonneville assures fans.

The 57-year-old actor, who famously played Lord Crawley in both the Masterpiece series and in the first movie, opened up about the status of the second movie.

“Here’s the deal, if everybody who is offered a vaccine takes a vaccine, we can make a movie, we will make a movie,” Hugh shared while on BBC Radio 2’s The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show this week.

He continued, “It’s the usual thing. The planets are circling. They are beginning to get into alignment. There is a thing called coronavirus knocking around and until that is under control in a sensible way, we are not going to be able to get all those ducks in a row…”

Hugh adds that he has seen a script and there is “certainly the intention to do it. We would love to do it, we are desperate to do it.”

“I think it’s the sort of pleasurable release of a movie like the first one was, that audiences would enjoy after all of this mess we have been through.”

The 2019 Downton Abbey movie centered back on the Crawleys as they prepared for the most important moment of their lives: A royal visit from the king and queen of England.

Just this week, it was revealed that Hugh was playing a big part in the fight against coronavirus.

Downton Abbey's Hugh Bonneville Is Volunteering at a COVID-19 Vaccination Center

Downton Abbey‘s Hugh Bonneville just revealed that he is volunteering as a marshall at a Coronavirus vaccination center!

The 57-year-old actor – who was vaccinated back in January – is a volunteer at a center near his home in Midhurst, West Sussex.

“I get to wear a high-vis and be very bossy and go: ‘Oi!’,” he said in a video with BBC. “No, it’s just to welcome people – as I’m about to do. ‘Good morning sir, welcome.’”

“For some people, it’s the first time they’ve been out of their house in, you know, a year,” he added. “We’ve had people who’ve been grateful for the outing as much as anything and this sense of a glimmer of hope, so it’s great to be part of this team effort.”

Downton Abbey's Hugh Bonneville Debuts New Look After Recent Weight Loss & Hairstyle Change

Hugh Bonneville, best known for his work as Lord Grantham on the series Downton Abbey, has a brand new look!

The 56-year-old British actor made an appearance on the BBC talk show The One Show this week and viewers noted how he looked unrecognizable.

Hugh‘s new look was noted during the interview when the hosts read a viewer’s comment, “Can’t we just discuss how amazing Hugh looks?” He laughed and blushed after the comment was made!

It looks like Hugh has changed up his hairstyle with a shorter ‘do and he has also lost some weight.

In another interview, Hugh said how “the lockdown has given me time to get involved more locally, and it has given me a sense of what matters, and that’s things like love and family rather than just trying to be a hamster in a wheel… We have made the most of how at the moment you have to live on a day-to-day basis. It’s that whole thing of living in the present.”

But his brother Sean (Joe Claflin) is in deep, caught up in property developer Clifford Cullen’s (Timothy Spall) violent, unforgiving circle, with no route out.
