Tom Hiddleston Talks About the Future of Loki in Marvel Movies

Tom Hiddleston flashes his big smile while attending the ATAS/SAG panel and screening for his new series The Night Manager on Thursday (April 7) at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles.

The 35-year-old actor was joined by his co-stars Elizabeth Debicki, Hugh Laurie, and Olivia Colman.

Tom recently opened up to Hypable about the future of Loki in the Marvel movies.

“Honestly, I don’t know. It’s very difficult to be precise and specific in ways that people would like me to be. I understand the enthusiasm and the curiosity in the complexity and the detail of the Marvel universe as it transpires in movies. But I’m careful to feed that curiosity because I worry that in spite of the enthusiasm it diminishes the movies,” Tom said. “If you know everything going in I just don’t want to know that information so I’m very hesitant to put it out there. I don’t want to spoil it for anybody. I knew about two years before it happened that Clark Gregg was killed in The Avengers and if I had ever let that information out it would have completely ruined the experience of watching The Avengers. So to your point, I may or may not know how many times I’m going to play Loki again but I’m not going to tell you. I’m not trying to be difficult.”

“When it comes to my relationship with Marvel, whenever I have said something it usually becomes expanded and misshapen and it then has no bearing to what I originally said at all. I have a pretty good sense of what my future with Marvel is but I don’t think it’s worth telling anyone because it may change. They are very smart over there and like any creative process, they are free to change their minds. Throughout the Marvel universe Loki has changed from movie to movie. Sometimes he’s even changed in the middle of movies in ways you may not even know,” he continued.

Tom Hiddleston Talks 'Kong: Skull Island': 'It's Going To Be Spectacular & Epic'!

Tom Hiddleston is all smiles while attending his SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversation for The Night Manager held at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation on Wednesday (April 6) in Los Angeles.

That same evening, the 35-year-old actor’s co-star Hugh Laurie and director-producer Susanne Bier took part in AMC’s The Night Manager DGA Panel at the DGA Theater in support of the upcoming mini-series, which premieres on Tuesday (April 19).

Tom recently revealed some details about his anticipated flick Kong: Skull Island, which is also set to star Brie Larson, John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson and Thomas Mann.

“I don’t want to spoil too much… But it’s a whole new re-conception of the mythology,” Tom revealed (via EW). “It essentially follows a group of disparate travelers and explorers and soldiers who travel to an undiscovered island in the South Pacific. And it’s set in a time period where you could conceive that there are still undiscovered places on the earth. What they find on the island is surprising, and then every character has a very different response to it. It’s going to be spectacular and epic, but also the human drama is kind of interesting as well.”

At the premiere, Tom opened up about those James Bond casting rumors and how he would like them to stop.

“People have very strong opinions about Bond and why shouldn’t they? But it’s difficult to talk about because it’s a completely unreal conversation in a way,” Tom expressed (via Sky News). “I haven’t spoken to anyone who makes those films. It’s just an idea in people’s minds so it’s quite hard to engage with because it hasn’t come from me if that makes sense. It’s odd because it’s becoming overwhelming – not the thing of it, but the number of people per day who bring it up, it’s actually becoming a weird thing to deal with.”

“I feel like, I want to just make it stop because I have no power over it, but that’s what being famous is,” Tom added. “You have no power over other people’s opinions.”

FYI: Tom is wearing a Thom Sweeney suit. Elizabeth is wearing a Vionnet gown and Loeffler Randall shoes.
