Jake had his breakout role in the Netflix series Hollywood, in which he played Rock Hudson. He’ll next be seen in Top Gun: Maverick, which will not be released until next summer.

“I read somewhere, that a secret isn’t real unless it’s painful to hold on to, and I feel like that’s what Rock was doing with his truth and there is a tragedy in that. Not being able to express who you are,” Jake recently told Attitude. “I initially connected with Rock’s loneliness that he described. When he first moved to LA, he would stand alone in his uniform in front of the studio gates, hoping for a connection to the business, or a helping hand, you know. I was feeling that.”

Hollywood's Jake Picking Once Had a Shirtless Scene with Zac Efron & Robert De Niro!

Jake Picking is one of the breakout stars of the new Netflix limited series Hollywood and you might recognize him from some previous roles.

One of the 29-year-old actor’s first big screen roles was in the comedy Dirty Grandpa, in which he went shirtless alongside Zac Efron and Robert De Niro.

In that movie, Jake played a frat bro who competed in a “flex off” with the two actors. Paparazzi were on location that day and snapped photos, which you can see in the gallery.

Jake plays Rock Hudson in the Netflix series and this isn’t the first time that he’s played a real-life person. He also starred in the movie Patriots Day as real-life police officer Sean Collier.

Other films on Jake‘s resume include Only the Brave, Blockers, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Netflix’s Horse Girl, and the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick.
