Netflix Cancels 'Dad Stop Embarrassing Me,' Jamie Foxx Reportedly Involved in Decision

Netflix has canceled the comedy series Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! after just one season and the show’s star Jamie Foxx was reportedly involved in the decision to end the series.

The show was co-created by Foxx and was inspired by his relationship with his daughter Corinne Foxx. The eight-episode first season debuted on April 14 and was seemingly a hit for the streamer as it reached #1 on the overall chart.

The 34-year-old Summer House star and Hubb House PR founder revealed during an interview with E!’s Nightly Pop on Wednesday (April 21) that Jamie Foxx once slid into her DMs.

Snoop Dogg Joins Jamie Foxx in Netflix Vampire Thriller 'Day Shift'

Snoop Dogg is teaming up with Jamie Foxx!

The 49-year-old rapper has joined Netflix’s upcoming vampire thriller series Day Shift, THR reports.

Day Shift follows Jamie as a “a hard-working, blue-collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted daughter, but his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income, hunting and killing vampires as part of an international union of vampire hunters.”

The film also stars Dave Franco, Meagan Good, Karla Souza, Eric Lange, Zion Broadnax, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Oliver Masucci, Steve Howey, and C.S. Lee.

Jamie will also produce Day Shift, which will be the directorial debut of JJ Perry.

The script was written by Tyler Tice, and the project is expected to debut on Netflix next year.

Jamie Foxx currently has the number one show on Netflix with his new original series Dad Stop Embarrassing Me and there’s a moment in episode three that Dreamgirls fans are going to love!

For those that don’t remember, Jamie starred in the film adaptation of the classic Broadway musical, which was released back in 2006.

Jamie played Curtis Taylor Jr., the manager of The Dreams and the love interest of Jennifer Hudson‘s character Effie. When his affections go to Beyonce‘s Deena, Effie starts acting out and Curtis drops her from the group. The song “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” takes place right after Curtis tells Effie that she’s out of the group.

Jamie Foxx and his daughter Corinne are dressing up for their big night!

The 53-year-old actor and his 27-year-old daughter attended the virtual premiere of their new Netflix series Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! this week in Los Angeles.

Jamie stars in the series, which Corinne is executive producing.

Also attending the virtual premiere were cast members Kyla-Drew, Porscha Coleman, Jonathan Kite, and David Alan Grier.

Here’s what the show is about: “Brian Dixon (Jamie Foxx), successful business owner and bachelor, just became a full-time father to his teenage daughter Sasha (Kyla-Drew). Determined to be the best father he can be, Brian’s going to need all the help he can get from his dad (David Alan Grier) and sister (Porscha Coleman) — and Sasha’s going to need all the help she can get learning how to deal with her new, lovingly chaotic. Full of heart and humor, Dad Stop Embarrassing Me is inspired by Foxx’s real-life relationship with daughter Corinne Foxx, who also serves as executive producer.”

Jamie Foxx Grabs Celebratory Dinner After Inking Production Deal With MTV

Jamie Foxx pulls up his mask up on his face while leaving dinner in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (March 24).

The 53-year-old actor and singer wore a black and white checkered coat as he caught up with a friend at Nobu in Malibu for a late night dinner.

Earlier in the week, Jamie was spotted shooting scenes for what seems to be for an upcoming music video.

It was just announced that Jamie had inked a production deal with MTV Studios.

THR says that Jamie and producing partner Datari Turner will develop and executive produce original movies across the portfolio with a focus on BIPOC filmmakers.

The duo already have an overall deal at Sony Pictures Entertainment for feature films.

Mike Tyson Gives Blessing To Jamie Foxx To Play Him In Upcoming Limited Series

Jamie Foxx will be playing Mike Tyson on the small screen in a limited series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The legendary boxer has given his blessing to the project which will be helmed by Antoine Fuqua and executive produced by Martin Scorsese.

“I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time,” Mike shared in a statement. “With the recent launch of Legends Only League and the excitement from fans following my return to the ring, now feels like the perfect moment. I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains.”

The project has been in the works as a movie for quite a while and was first announced to fans last year.

However, the project is now set as a limited series versus a movie for the big screen.
