Jason Alexander Was 'Punched Many Times' Because Of This Movie Role

Jason Alexander is opening up about his iconic role in Pretty Woman.

Speaking with Robin Bronk during the At Home With The Creative Coalition podcast, the 61-year-old actor reflected on his role as attorney Philip Stuckey in the 1990 film, opposite Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.

“It was a unique situation because when I got [Pretty Woman], I fully understood that the director did not want me,” Jason admits. “I was not what Garry Marshall wanted.”

He continued, “I had auditioned for him, he was very sweet. He basically said, ‘you’re too young. You’re too baby-faced. You’re too little.’ There were other people he tried to get and I don’t know why but they couldn’t make a deal… I got the part because they couldn’t make a deal with the actor they wanted and they were desperate.”

Jason also recalled that the part actually turned him into one of the most hated actors at the time.

“I was known around the world as the asshole who tried to rape Julia Roberts so women hated me,” he says. “I would walk down the street and women would say mean things to me.”

He recalls that he “got punched many times. I got spit on by one woman. It was a rough year.”

Just last year, Julia opened up about the intended original ending for the film. See what she said here…

Britney Spears' Ex Husband Jason Alexander Wants to Rekindle Their Romance

Britney Spears‘ ex husband Jason Alexander attended a #FreeBritney protest this week and in addition to showing his support for her removal from her conservatorship, he also would like to give their relationship another try.

“Oh, yeah, definitely,” the 38-year-old said when asked if he would give their relationship another try (via Us Weekly). “If they would give us an honest chance, you know? And she really wanted that. I’d give it a shot.”

“I’ve got love for her, definitely,” he continued. “But, you know, I’ve had to move on, so it’s kind of like one of those things. It’s not gonna be the end of the world if it don’t happen, but I feel like I’m showing my support.”

Jason added, “I’d love to be back in her life some way or another, but this conservatorship is holding that back from happening. We never were given a shot the first time around. If there’s feeling still there, maybe we see where they go but that’s not — you know that’s on her.”

“I want to see Britney get what she rightly deserves,” he added. “And from personal conversations [we’ve had], she doesn’t want to be under the conservatorship obviously and it’s affecting her life still to this day in a negative way. Yeah, it’s time for it be over with.”

Jason and Britney married in 2004 in Las Vegas and it’s famously the shortest celeb marriage on record!

Jason Alexander Says He Was Bribed to Leak 'Seinfeld' Secrets

Jason Alexander says that people tried to get him to leak secrets from the series finale of Seinfeld in exchange for money!

The actor recently had a virtual reunion with co-star Julia Louis-Dreyfus on Instagram Live and they opened up about the buzz surrounding the series finale. The studio had to build walls around the set to prevent paparazzi from catching photos from the finale shoot.

“I remember thinking at that time, ‘Seriously? Who gives a s–t?’” Julia said.

While Jason agreed, he revealed that his own publicist had asked him if he’d want to leak secrets.

“My own publicist — I don’t know if this came for you, too — my publicist was asking me if I was willing to leak out some secrets for money,” Jason said (via Variety). “And I went, ‘They’ll kill us!’ How can you do that?”

When Julia said that she hoped Jason fired the publicist, he jokingly said, “No, I gave him a raise.”

The series finale of Seinfeld aired on May 14, 1998 and it was watched by 76.3 million people.
