Jesy Nelson is moving on solo.

After teasing photos and videos in the recording studio for weeks, the 29-year-old former Little Mix member confirmed on Friday (May 21) that she just signed a record deal for a solo career.

“So excited to announce that I’ve signed my first ever solo record deal with @polydorrecords @universalmusicgroup This is such a pinch me moment. I cannot wait for you guys to hear what I’ve been working on 🙊❤️,” she captioned a photo of herself posing in front of the Polydor logo on Instagram.

Jesy Nelson isn’t wasting any time!

The 29-year-old former Little Mix star shared a video of herself with a music producer on her Instagram Story on Friday (February 26).

In the video, she tagged producer Patrick Jordan Patrikios and songwriter Hanni “Sunny” Ibrahim, including a taste of new music.

Earlier this month, Jesy “liked” a comment about releasing new music.

Jesy announced that she was leaving Little Mix after nine years back in December.

“The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard,” she wrote in her statement at the time.

The band scored a No. 1 back in January.

Jesy Nelson is looking beautiful after announcing a big change.

The 29-year-old singer posted a selfie to her Instagram on Sunday (December 27) following the massive news that she is leaving Little Mix after nearly a full decade of being a girl group member.

“just woke up wbu ?” she captioned the post.

“The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard. There comes a time in life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focusing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin that process. So after much consideration and with a heavy heart, I’m announcing I’m leaving Little Mix,” she announced to the world earlier in the year.

Here is how the girl group reacted to the news.

One Direction‘s Liam Payne is reacting to Little Mix‘s Jesy Nelson leaving the girl group.

“Someone Zayn‘d out,” Liam said when he was talking about the news, referring to Zayn Malik leaving One Direction.

He then continued, “No, no. Let’s be serious about this. It’s always sad at this moment in time when bands get into that sort of thing. Having been there myself, I felt that Zayn left for pretty much the same reason in a weird way.”

Jesy revealed the reason why she was leaving in a statement that shocked fans. You can read what Zayn said in 2015 when he left the group right here.

“I wish Jesy all the best. I wish the girls all the best for carrying on as a three,” Liam continued. “It’s a tough time and I do feel for them because everyone is watching in that little fishbowl at the moment and no one really understands what’s going on or how it feels for some people.”

In an odd connection, Zayn used to be engaged to another member of Little Mix.

Jesy Nelson announced that she is leaving the girl group Little Mix after nine years together, and now, the remaining three members – Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Perrie Edwards – have released a statement.

“After an amazing 9 years together Jesy has made the decision to leave Little Mix. This is an incredibly sad time for all of us but we are fully supportive of Jesy,” the three remaining women said in a statement, posted to Instagram. “We love her very much and agree that it is so important that she does what is right for her mental health and well-being. We are still very much enjoying our Little Mix journey and the 3 of us are not ready for it to be over.”

The entertainers added that they will be continuing together as a three-person girl group.

The band continued, “We know that Jesy leaving the group is going to be really upsetting news for our fans. We love you guys so much and are so grateful for your loyalty and continued support of all of us. We’re looking forward to seeing so many of you on tour. Love always, Jade, Perrie and Leigh-Anne xxx.”

Jesy‘s exit, while shocking, did not totally come out of nowhere.

The 29-year-old entertainer posted a lengthy statement to her official Instagram account announcing the news. This news comes just a few weeks after she revealed she was taking a break from the group.

The biggest takeaway, and the reason she is leaving, is the following: “The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard.”

Remaining members of the group include Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. The remaining three women performed their hit “Break Up Song” on Strictly Come Dancing” on Sunday night (December 13). Little Mix was formed in 2011 during the 8th season of The X Factor UK.
