RHONY's Jill Zarin Reveals Daughter Ally Was Conceived With a Sperm Donor

Jill Zarin, one of the former stars of The Real Housewives of New York City, is opening up about a big family secret.

The 56-year-old reality star has revealed that her now-27-year-old daughter, Ally Shapiro, was conceived with a sperm donor.

Jill told Heather McDonald on the Juicy Scoop podcast that she and ex-husband Steven Shapiro planned on telling Ally after she graduated college, but she found out first while snooping around her mom’s emails.

“[My mom] said, ‘We were never going to tell you like this and we didn’t know when the right time was, but basically, your dad’s your dad, but we had a difficult time having you and we used a sperm donor,’” Ally said on the podcast (via Page Six). “And I never in a million years would have thought that. Like, I had no inkling.”

“I don’t think I was ever really mad, I was more just surprised,” Ally added.

The emails that Ally found were from a family member who questioned, “Why is Ally the fattest in the Shapiro family?” and “Why does Ally have blue eyes and no one else does?” She said that she IS mad at that family member though.

“I didn’t have a say in when I was told and how I was told or who my siblings are now,” Ally said. “I feel like I can choose now when I want to meet this guy and what our relationship is and boundaries … I think I want to meet him when the timing is right for both of us. I feel like now’s not the right time.”

Jill Zarin Pays Tribute to Late Husband Bobby at His Funeral

Jill Zarin gave a moving eulogy for her late husband Bobby Zarin at his funeral on Monday morning (January 15) at Riverside Memorial in New York City.

The funeral was attended by many members of Jill‘s Real Housewives of New York City cast, including Bethenny Frankel, Sonja Morgan, and more.

Jill was the last to speak at the funeral and she teared up several times throughout her speech, according to People.

“I wasn’t sure if I could stand up here today,” Jill said. “[Bobby] was an incredibly great husband, a great father, and grandfather, and [a] truly great friend.”

Jill opened up about how she knitted Bobby a blanket starting last summer when his cancer grew worse.

“When Bobby got sick in July, I needed something to keep my mind going,” she said. “[So] I started knitting him a blanket,” which kept “growing and growing.”

“He spent the last days of his life snuggled up in it,” Jill added. “The irony is when I draped it over the casket, it fit perfectly. Bobby knew.”
