Joey King is taking on an exciting new role.

The 21-year-old The Kissing Booth actress will star in Netflix‘s Uglies, helmed by director McG as an adaptation of Scott Westerfeld’s popular dystopian fantasy novel, Deadline reported Tuesday (September 29).

Joey will also serve as executive producer.

Uglies “is set in a world in which a compulsory operation at sixteen wipes out physical differences and makes everyone pretty by conforming to an ideal standard of beauty.”

“Sources say King long has been a fan of the series and brought the series to Netflix – called them, got them to read the script and the book, and then King got Netflix to option it,” Deadline reports of Joey‘s participation.

Joey definitely has a busy schedule lined up: next week, Joey‘s new Blumhouse horror film The Lie will premiere on Prime Video. Check out the trailer here!

The Lie is a movie that Joey made a few years ago and it will finally be released as part of the Welcome to Blumhouse series on Amazon Prime Video.

Here is the synopsis: When their teenaged daughter (King) confesses to impulsively killing her best friend, two desperate parents (Mireille Enos and Peter Sarsgaard) attempt to cover up the horrific crime, leading them into a complicated web of lies and deception.

The Lie will start streaming for all Amazon Prime subscribers starting on October 6.

Joey will soon start filming a very exciting new movie alongside one of last year’s Oscar-winning actors. We can’t wait!

Lady Gaga accepts her second award of the night on stage at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, which aired on Sunday (August 30).

The 34-year-old singer won the award for Song of the Year for “Rain on Me” and it was presented to her by The Kissing Booth 2 actress Joey King.

This is already Gaga‘s third look of the night and there are surely more on the way. Make sure to check out both look one and look two.

During her acceptance speech, Gaga mentioned how this award is so special since it’s for the song.

Joey King is a presenter at this weekend’s 2020 MTV Video Music Awards and she looks so fierce in these photos she snapped on set while pre-taping her segment.

The 21-year-old The Kissing Booth 2 actress got all dressed up and pre-taped her appearance on Friday (August 28) at a studio in Los Angeles.

The MTV VMAs will be airing on Sunday night with both live and pre-taped elements, with most of the action happening in New York City.

“VMAS!!!!!!!!!!🌓🌹 (Airing on Sunday!),” Joey wrote on her Instagram account with the photos.

The list of celebs presenting at the event was announced this week!

FYI: Joey is wearing a Versace dress, necklace, tights and hair pins. She finished off her look with vintage Versace earrings from Lang Antiques, red ISCREAM pumps and black Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.

The director of The Kissing Booth 2 is opening up about how they filmed that big dance competition scene at the end and what happened with the extras on set.

In the smash hit Netflix movie, Joey King‘s character Elle enters a dance competition in hopes of winning tuition money for college and she partners up with Marco (Taylor Zakhar Perez), a new kid at school who is also an incredible dancer.

Marco also becomes a threat to Elle’s relationship with Noah (Jacob Elordi), who is off at school at Harvard the entire time.

Writer and director Vince Marcello told Variety, “The concept of the competition being something that would feed her ability to go to Harvard or a higher tuition school became a conflict of that. The guy that is helping her make the money is also the guy threatening her relationship.”

Vince says that Joey and Taylor rehearsed their dance routine in Los Angeles before they filmed it in front of a live audience on set.

“When Marco and Elle came out to shoot that, we had 2500 extras for that shooting day. The second they walked in, that crowd became a full-on audience. They were watching this dance happen with no idea what’s happening in the movie. When Marco and Elle were rehearsing it, the audience was booing because they didn’t want her kissing this other guy. We were backstage and shocked,” Vince revealed. “But after a couple of takes, Jacob arrived, and as soon as he arrived, it was the strangest thing, because it felt like we were watching this moment as he realizes something is going on between them.”

Taylor recently addressed the rumors that he and Joey are now dating in real life.

Joey King has a new movie heading to Amazon Prime Video later this year!

The 21-year-old actress stars in the Blumhouse horror movie The Lie, which had its world premiere back in 2018 at the Toronto Film Festival.

In the movie, directed by The Killing creator Veena Sud, two parents (Mireille Enos and Peter Sarsgaard) must deal with the grisly aftermath when their teenage daughter (King) confesses to killing her best friend.

The film will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on October 6 as part of a new deal set up by Blumhouse. The horror studio has eight movies going to Amazon with the first four premiering this October.

Mamoudou Athie and Phylicia Rashad‘s movie Black Box will also premiere on October 6. Nocturne, starring Sydney Sweeney and Madison Iseman, as well as Evil Eye, which was executive produced by Priyanka Chopra, will premiere on October 13.

Joey recently signed on to star in a movie with one of the biggest movie stars in the world.
