John Singleton is Remembered by 'Snowfall' Cast at Season Three Premiere

The cast of Snowfall is remembering show creator John Singleton.

On Monday (July 8), cast members Michael Hyatt, Angela Lewis, Amin Joseph, Isaiah John, Damson Idris, Carter Hudson, and Reign Edwards remembered their show’s creator after his death.

“Although he’s gone, he’s still with us,” Damson shared in an interview with The Root. “He taught me as a black person to always think of your community first. As long as your community welcomes you, you’ll always have a home.”

John passed away back in April after being taken off life support shortly after suffering a stroke.

Also in attendance at the premiere was Empire star Serayah McNeill.

New episodes of Snowfall air on Wednesday nights at 10pm ET on FX.

John Singleton Dead - 'Boyz N The Hood' Director Dies at 51

John Singleton has sadly died at the age of 51.

The screenwriter, producer and director, known best for Boyz N The Hood, died on Monday (April 29) after being taken off of life support earlier in the day by his loved ones following a massive stroke nearly two weeks prior.

Among his many achievements, he was the first African-American nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director.

“We want to thank the amazing doctors at Cedars-Sinai Hospital for their expert care and kindness and we again want thank all of John’s fans, friends and colleagues for all of the love and support they showed him during this difficult time,” his family said in a statement.

A family spokesperson confirmed that he passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

“Like many African Americans, Singleton quietly struggled with hypertension. More than 40% of African American men and women have high blood pressure, which also develops earlier in life and is usually more severe. His family wants to share the message with all to please recognize the symptoms by going to Heart.org,” the family urged earlier in the day upon delivering the life support news.

John Singleton to Be Taken Off of Life Support

John Singleton will sadly be taken off of life support.

The 51-year-old Boyz In The Hood director will be taken off of life support on Monday (April 29), nearly two weeks after suffering a massive stroke, the family revealed in a statement, calling it an “agonizing decision.”

“We are grateful to his fans, friends and colleagues for the outpouring of love and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. We want to thank all the doctors at Cedars Sinai for the impeccable care he received,” they said.

Director John Singleton Is In Coma After 'Major Stroke' (Report)

Director John Singleton, known for his work directing Boyz n the Hood, is reportedly in a coma after suffering what is being described as a “major stroke.”

TMZ learned that John’s mother has filed legal documents to be John‘s temporary conservator while he’s in a coma.

The documents say he’s “unable to properly provide for his personal needs for physical health, food, clothing, or shelter.” His mom also said at the time of the stroke he was involved in some business dealings and a “lucrative settlement agreement,” and she wants to be able to handle those affairs.

John suffered a stroke while in the hospital. He checked himself in after experiencing problems with his legs after a trip to Costa Rica.

John Singleton's Family Provides Update on His Condition

The family of director John Singleton is providing an update on his condition after he suffered a stroke earlier this week.

The 51-year-old filmmaker, who received two Oscar nominations for his movie Boyz n the Hood, is currently in the ICU.

“On Wednesday, April 17th our beloved son/father, John Singleton, suffered a stroke while at the hospital. John is currently in the ICU and under great medical care,” their statement read (via THR). “We ask that privacy be given to him and our family at this time and appreciate all of the prayers that have been pouring in from his fans, friends and colleagues.”
