Ariel Winter Pays Homage to Karl Lagerfeld in New Cover Shoot

Ariel Winter gives a stunning tribute to the late German creative director Karl Lagerfeld in her new cover shoot for Bello Mag, which took place on the day he passed away.

Here’s what the 21-year-old Modern Family star had to share with the mag:

On the similarities and differences between herself and her Modern Family character, Alex Dunphy: “[They are both] pretty sarcastic [and believe in the importance of education]. There’s not a ton of differences. [The] main difference [is that I don't] wear as many flannels.”

On her personal style: “Anything [I] can find that is comfortable and possibly matching. [Some of my staples are] heeled boots [and] legging pants because I’m super into comfy.”

On what advice she would give her younger self: “To stop being so judgmental of myself.”

On her biggest inspirations: “There are a lot of people that inspire me, and there are a lot of amazing people in the industry, but I’d say probably people who are not in the industry inspire me more, like family members.”

During the ceremony, she took to the stage to honor Karl, who passed away this week at age 85.

“It’s impossible to imagine climbing the steps in Cannes or an Oscar ceremony without one of his mythical creations. His sense of humour and worldview, often hilarious, will be missed. I miss him, I miss him terribly,” Diane said.

Diane also recently revealed on her Instagram that she had come to Paris to introduce her daughter to Karl but it was too late by the time she arrived.

Cara Delevingne Defends Karl Lagerfeld in Exchange With Jameela Jamil

Cara Delevingne is emotionally defending the legacy of the late Karl Lagerfeld, who died on Tuesday (February 19) at the age of 85, in an exchange with Jameela Jamil on Twitter.

After the 32-year-old The Good Place star called out Karl for being “a ruthless, fat-phobic misogynist,” the 26-year-old Suicide Squad actress jumped into the discussion.

“I understand what you were trying to do and I apologize if I offended you or anyone else. I just don’t feel that living in the past and bringing up things that have already happened helps anything. Let’s move forward and lead with love. That’s it,” said Cara.

“I didn’t find you offensive. I just think it hurts a lot of fat people, and people who he was racist about, and people who were affected by his toxic misogyny, to see someone like that hailed as if he was a saint. We have privelege so he was nice to us. He hurt a lot of people.❤️,” Jameela replied.

“It saddens me deeply that anyone was hurt, that I do not condone. It is not possible to go through life without hurting people. He was not a saint, he is a human being like all of us who made mistakes and we should all have the chance to be forgiven for that,” wrote Cara.

“Again, we can’t chalk decades of abusive rhetoric towards minorities as ‘being human’ or ‘ making mistakes’ doing it once as a joke and then apologizing is one thing, doing it again and again in spite of public outcry is a bad human. I’m sorry to speak ill of someone you love. ❤️,” replied Jameela.

Prior to their exchange, Cara separately spoke out in defense of Karl on her own account.

Karl Lagerfeld to Be Cremated Without Ceremony

Karl Lagerfeld‘s final wishes will be fulfilled the way he wanted them to be.

After the longtime creative director of Chanel and Fendi passed away on Tuesday (February 19) at the age of 85, it has been confirmed that Karl will be cremated without a funeral – which is exactly what he wanted.

A spokesperson from Karl‘s eponymous line, Karl Lagerfeld, told French news agency AFP that Karl‘s “wishes will be respected.”

In previous interviews, Karl was very open about what he wanted to happen after he died. He wished to have his ashes scattered with those of his mother’s and late partner Jacques de Bascher – who died in 1989 from complications of AIDS at the age of 38 – and also preferred not to have any ceremony.

In the 2017 biography Jacques de Bascher, dandy de l’ombre, Karl revealed that he kept Jacques‘ ashes in a place that only he knew.

“They are in a place kept secret with those of my mother,” Karl shared. “One day, we will add mine. But I do not want a burial, nothing. I arrived one day, and one day I will leave. But let it be said, there is no urgency.”

Since his passing, many celebrities and models have paid tribute to Karl.

Cara Delevingne Defends Karl Lagerfeld Amid Criticism After His Death

Cara Delevingne has just spoken out on her Twitter account after the death of Karl Lagerfeld.

“He was born in 1933! I am not saying I agree with some of the things he has said. I’m very emotional and mourning his death and feel like I have to stick up for him when he’s not here to speak for himself,” Cara wrote on Wednesday (February 20).

Since Karl‘s death became public knowledge, many have mourned his death but some have been pointing out some of the negative things he’s said in the past. For example, The Good Place‘s Jameela Jamil called the late fashion designer out as a “ruthless, fat-phobic misogynist.”

Cara continued, “Everyone has their own opinion and I felt the need to voice my own. All I want is for everyone to love each other no matter what. Just please understand that it’s an extremely emotional time and we must try use love instead of hate”

“All of these things should have been addressed while someone is living, not the day after someones death,” she concluded.

Cara worked extensively with the late designer and she posted about him several times after his death.

Good Place's Jameela Jamil Calls Out Karl Lagerfeld as a 'Ruthless, Fat-Phobic Misogynist'

The Good Place star Jameela Jamil is calling out Karl Lagerfeld after his death at the age of 85.

The 32-year-old actress posted an article on her Twitter account with the headline, “Stop Mourning Oppressors: Anti-Condolences For Karl Lagerfeld.”

Jameela tweeted, “I’m glad somebody said it. Even if it is a little soon. A ruthless, fat-phobic misogynist shouldn’t be posted all over the internet as a saint gone-too-soon. Talented for sure, but not the best person.”

A fan responded, “Appreciate the sentiment for sure but I thought we weren’t cancelling people? Also look at posts from RiRi etc saying how he helped lift them up – we definitely need to think about this in a balanced way,” so Jameela wrote back, “You can’t cancel someone who is dead. You can just say they shouldn’t be glorified if they’ve never changed or apologized.”

Jameela later added, “Gonna write an essay about this instead of trying to put my thoughts on this into a tweet. How problematic the industry has been for girls is too complex for this.”
