Netflix has announced some unfortunate news – two shows that had previously been given renewals for more seasons have now been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The streaming service has announced that the new shows The Society and I Am Not Okay With This will no longer be moving forward with the planned second seasons.

THR reports that even though the renewal for I Am Not Okay With This had not been announced, scripts for season two were already written.

“We’ve made the difficult decision not to move forward with second seasons of The Society and I Am Not Okay With This,” Netflix said in a statement. “We’re disappointed to have to make these decisions due to circumstances created by COVID, and we are grateful to these creators, including: Jonathan Entwistle, Christy Hall, Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen and Josh Barry at 21 Laps Entertainment for I Am Not Okay With This; Chris Keyser, Marc Webb and Pavlina Hatoupis for The Society; and all the writers, casts and crews who worked tirelessly to make these shows for our members around the world.”

It is being reported that the cancellations are due to “uncertainty surrounding production dates, efforts to balance the needs and scheduling availabilities of a large cast (like The Society) and unexpected budget increases because of the pandemic prompted both cancellations.”

Kathryn Newton is first up on the carpet at the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (January 19) at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

The 22-year-old Big Little Lies actress wowed in her orange gown and she sure made an entrance to remember!

Also pictured inside are Kathryn‘s young Big Little Lies co-stars Ivy George, Nicholas Crovetti, Cameron Crovetti, and Chloe Coleman.

The cast of Big Little Lies is nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series against the casts of The Crown, Game of Thrones, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Stranger Things.

Billie Lourd and Yara Shahidi slay the red carpet while they attended several 2020 Golden Globes After-Parties on Sunday (January 5) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 27-year-old American Horror Story actress bared her toned midriff in a striped crop top and matching skirt while the 19-year-old grown-ish star went bright and colorful in a yellow dress.

Some of the brightest stars in Young Hollywood were in attendance at W Magazine’s Best Performances Party during Golden Globes Weekend on Friday night (January 3) at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, Calif.

Golden Globe nominees Joey King, Kaitlyn Dever, Ben Platt, and Beanie Feldstein all stepped out for the event. They are nominated for their work in The Act, Unbelievable, The Politician, and Booksmart, respectively.

Joining the stars at the event were Ben‘s The Politician co-star Zoey Deutch, Kaitlyn and Beanie‘s Booksmart co-stars Molly Gordon and Diana Silvers, Big Little Lies‘ Kathryn Newton, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood‘s Margaret Qualley and Sydney Sweeney.

All of the projects mentioned are nominated for Golden Globes and we hope some of these stars win!
