Keanu Reeves to Star in Live Action Film & Anime Adaptation of 'BRZRKR' for Netflix

Keanu Reeves is bringing his debut comic to Netflix!

Variety reports that Keanu will produce and star in live-action and anime adaptations of “Brzrkr”, which co-authored alongside Matt Kindt.

The new projects will be an addition to the 12-episode limited series with the live-action film to debut first and the anime series to follow.

The comics follow a half-mortal, half-god named B who is cursed and compelled towards violence. After wandering the earth for centuries, he may have possibly found a refuge by working for the U.S. government to fight battles too dangerous for anyone else. For his service, B will be granted the truth about his existence, including how to end it.

“Brzrkr” has been a huge hit for its publisher BOOM! Studios since its March 3 launch, selling over 615,000 copies of its inaugural issue. The new comic book series all started from a Kickstarter that raised about $1.5 million dollars to help bring the comic to the public.

It Was Always Planned For Keanu Reeves To Appear in the New 'Spongebob' Movie

Fans might find it a little weird that Keanu Reeves is part of the new Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run, but according to filmmaker Tim Hill, it was always part of the plan.

In an interview with TVLine, writer and director Tim Hill explained that the role was written just for Keanu and he was the only star in mind of the cameo.

He adds that “we made little Keanu drawings so long before he actually agreed, he was kind of in the movie. We had temp voices doing him and the momentum was too much.”

Sponge on the Run is set to premiere on Thursday, March 4 on Paramount+, and follows Spongebob and his best friend Patrick on a wild journey to Atlantic City to save Gary, who’s been snail-napped by the mighty King Poseidon.
