Kevin was also dressed in a police officer uniform as he filmed scenes for the upcoming Halloween comedy produced by Adam Sandler, which will be heading to Netflix.

Here’s the synopsis: “Good-natured but eccentric community volunteer Hubie Dubois (Sandler) finds himself at the center of a real murder case on Halloween night. Despite his devotion to his hometown of Salem, Massachusetts (and its legendary Halloween celebration), Hubie is a figure of mockery for kids and adults alike. But this year, something really is going bump in the night, and itโ€™s up to Hubie to save Halloween,” according to Observer.

'Kevin Can Wait' Canceled by CBS After Two Seasons

Kevin Can Wait is coming to an end.

CBS announced on Saturday (May 12) that the Monday night sitcom starring Kevin James has been canceled after two seasons.

The show was a major hit back in fall 2016 when it first premiered, and was ranked the most watched and highest rated new comedy last season.

At the end of season one, the show made a controversial casting change when they killed off Erinn Hayes‘ character making room for Kevin‘s The King of Queens co-star Leah Remini to join the cast.

The ratings for the show have drastically declined throughout season two.

Kevin James Explains Why Erinn Hayes Was Killed Off His Show

Fans were outraged at the way Kevin Can Wait dealt with the firing of Erinn Hayes and the way her character’s death was mentioned on the show and now the show’s star Kevin James is speaking out.

“I get that people are like ‘Whoa, why would you do this?’ But it really felt like a thing like this was needed for this show to drive forward,” Kevin said in a new interview with New York Daily News.

The 52-year-old actor says that killing off the character was a way to move the plot of the show and open it up to new story possibilities.

“Now, I have to deal with my daughter in a different way, and she’s gonna go to college, or one’s getting married, or the holidays. And it deals with things in a different, weightier way,” he said.

“The plot of the show didn’t have enough drive,” Kevin added. “If we got through a second season, I wouldn’t see us getting through a third one. We were literally just running out of ideas.”

Here’s how the death of the show’s matriarch was handled on the season two premiere.

'Kevin Can Wait' Death: Here's How Erinn Hayes Was Killed Off

Erinn Hayes was fired from her role as the female lead on Kevin Can Wait following the end of season one and her character’s death was addressed in the season two premiere.

At the beginning of the episode, viewers found out that Donna died over a year ago after Kevin James‘ self-titled character finds a piece of mail addressed to her.

“We haven’t seen you, we miss you,” a postcard from Donna’s gym read. After reading the note, Kevin added, “You know what, so do I.”

Taylor Spreitler, who plays the daughter of Kevin and Donna, took the postcard and said, “I will call them right now. It’s been over a year since she died, they shouldn’t still be sending this.”

Kevin then makes a joke to note throw out the postcard because there’s a coupon on it that he wants to use.

Viewers were shocked out how the show barely even took a minute to address the death of the show’s female lead. Erinn has been replaced on the show by Kevin‘s former The King of Queens co-star Leah Remini.

Leah Remini Says Scientology Wanted Her to Recruit Kevin James

Leah Remini is revealing that the Church of Scientology apparently tried to get her to recruit Kevin James, her King of Queens co-star, to the religion.

“They always tried to get me to, [asking] ‘Why is he not in? Why have you not promoted it to him?’ I was like, ‘Because he’s Catholic. He doesn’t want anything to do with it.’ They let it go after a while, but usually you’d be expected to recruit, especially with somebody you work with for nine years,” Leah told People.

Leah has documented her battle with the church after leaving in the A&E series Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath. The church has continuously denied her claims.

Leah is expected to reunite with Kevin on Kevin Can Wait this season.

“I got a call: ‘Do you want to do some more episodes?’ I said, ‘Yeah, of course, anything.’ They said, ‘Okay, so you’re going to be doing all the episodes.’ I was like, ‘What?! For Kevin, anything,’” Leah said. “He reached out to me and said, ‘I’m so proud of you; if you need anything, I’m here.’
