Zoey Deutch Opens Up About Working With Her Mom on 'The Year of Spectacular Men'

Zoey Deutch joined her mom Lea Thompson and sister Madelyn for a stunning photoshoot for Allure‘s Good Issue, available now!

Here’s what the trio had to share with the mag:

Madelyn on their new film The Year of Spectacular Men: “We devised it as a way to give ourselves jobs that we knew nobody was going to.”

Zoey on working with her mom: “It’s been great to look at you like a coworker and a human. There’s all this pressure on mothers to have all the answers, but I respect you enough to know that you won’t be right all the time.”

Lea on how she raised Zoey and Madelyn: “I grew up super poor in Minnesota and raised them completely differently. I learned you don’t tell kids that they’re talented and smart. You tell them that they have the things they have because of hard work. They were so understanding that I had to work.”

How Well Do Zoey Deutch, Madelyn Deutch, & Lea Thompson Know Each Other? Watch 'Speaking Deutch'! (Video)

Sisters Zoey Deutch and Madelyn Deutch and their mom Lea Thompson are not only family, they also have worked together the last few years on their new movie The Year of Spectacular Men. So, after all that time together, how well do they know each other?!

JustJared.com played a game of “Speaking Deutch” with the family members to determine who knows each other the best.

Among the questions our host Frenchy asked were, “Who is the worst singer?” “Who has the best sense of style?” and “Who is the family farter?”

The Year of Spectacular Men follows Izzy Klein (Madelyn), who has just graduated from college, broken up with her boyfriend, and has a case of pre-real-world millennial-itis. Throughout the year, she falls in and out of some not so romantic romances, and figures out that when it totally feels like the end of your story, it’s often just the beginning.

Madelyn wrote and stars in the movie, Zoey produced and co-stars in it, and Lea directed and co-stars in it. You can watch The Year of Spectacular Men now in limited theaters and on VOD.
