Joel Madden is wishing Lionel Richie a happy birthday!

The 41-year-old Good Charlotte rocker took to Instagram on Saturday (June 20) to send his birthday love to the music icon on his 71st birthday.

“Happy Birthday @lionelrichie Legendary Father, Mentor and Friend, Thank you for always Being a rock in my life❤️,” Joel wrote along with a throwback photo of his Nicole Richie with daughter Harlow, 12, and Sparrow, 10, posing with Lionel.

If you missed it, one of Lionel‘s famous songs has inspired a new Disney musical!

Lionel Richie‘s infamous song “All Night Long” will the basis of a new movie musical from Disney.

Variety reports that the movie title will be the same as the song and will also incorporate more of the 70-year-old singer’s greatest hits.

Lionel and his manager Bruce Eskowitz will be producing the project alongside Dana Brunetti and Matt Del Piano from Cavalry Media.

Pete Chiarelli will be penning the script.

The site adds that All Night Long will be in line “with the jukebox musical vibe of the hugely successful Mamma Mia films”.

Just recently, Lionel lent his voice to a new version of “We Are The World” with the most recent finalists on American Idol, where he is a judge.

Lionel Richie is bringing one of his most iconic songs to American Idol!

The 70-year-old singer and Idol judge performed “We Are the World” during the finale on Sunday night (May 17).

Joining Lionel for the performance was the new Idol winner along with past contestants including Fantasia, Gabby Barrett, Jordin Sparks, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Laine Hardy, Lauren Alaina, Phillip Phillips, Ruben Studdard, and Scotty McCreery.

Lionel originally wrote the song with Michael Jackson back in 1985, with proceeds going to the United Support Of Artists For Africa (USA For Africa) non-profit.

Lionel Richie is remembering his late friend, Kenny Rogers.

The 70-year-old music star posted a tribute to the late entertainer, who sadly died at 81 on Saturday (March 21).

“Today I lost one of my closest friends 💔 So much laughter so many adventures to remember, my heart is broken. My prayers go out to Kenny’s Family,” he wrote.

Lionel wrote Kenny‘s 1980 hit, “Lady.” The two also shared the stage many times over the years.

Sofia Richie and her longtime boyfriend Scott Disick are still going strong!

Scott was there to support Sofia at the launch event for the Rolla’s x Sofia Richie Collection on Thursday night (February 20) at the 1 Hotel in West Hollywood, Calif.

Sofia also received support from her brother Miles Richie and dad Lionel Richie with his girlfriend Lisa Parigi.

On her Instagram Stories, Sofia, 21, shared a photo of her and Scott, 36, sharing a kiss at the event and she captioned it, “My love.” They have been dating since the fall of 2017.

The 70-year-old entertainer and American Idol judge was joined by girlfriend Lisa Parigi at the launch party for his new Hello by Lionel Richie fragrance on Wednesday (February 19) at Ysabel in West Hollywood, Calif.

The brand new season of American Idol airs tonight on ABC and we have some details about the salaries of the three star judges and the host of the show, Ryan Seacrest.

If you don’t know, the three returning judges this season are Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, who all participated in last year’s season as well.

The reboot of American Idol debuted on ABC back in 2018. The show previously aired on Fox for 15 seasons before making the move to ABC.
