Tom Hiddleston's 'Loki' Showrunner Teases His 'Struggle with Identity' for Disney+ Series

We finally are getting some more details about Marvel’s new series, Loki, for Disney+!

In a recent episode of The Writers Panel, a podcast hosted by Ben Blacker, Loki showrunner Michael Waldron opened up about the writing process behind the upcoming series, along with fellow co-writers Michael Grassi, Nico Raineau and Lauren Schacher.

Tom Hiddleston is playing Loki again in the upcoming Marvel television series for Disney+.

Nearing the 28:40 mark, Michael Waldron explained that the core concept of the Loki series, which is ultimately about Loki’s struggle with who he is and who he wants to be.

“I think it’s the struggle with identity, who you are, who you want to be. I’m really drawn to characters who are fighting for control,” Waldron said (via Syfy). “Certainly, you see that with Loki over the first 10 years of movies, he’s out of control at pivotal parts of his life, he was adopted and everything and that manifests itself through anger and spite towards his family.”

Earlier this month, Tom Hiddleston and co-star Owen Wilson were photographed on the Loki set for the very first time!

Richard E. Grant Has Joined Disney+ Series 'Loki' As This Character

Richard E. Grant is the latest star to join Marvel’s new series, Loki, for Disney+.

ComicBook.com is theorizing that the -year-old actor is set to play Kang the Conqueror. However, this has not been confirmed yet.

Kang the Conqueror is a time-traveling warlord who in his older years becomes Immortus, “a guardian of time who exists in Limbo, the place outside of time.” He was appointed to this role by the Time Keepers.

Loki, with Tom Hiddleston returning for the title role, is expected to debut on the streaming service in 2021.

Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson were photographed on the Loki set for the very first time!

In photos shot on Friday (February 28), Owen and Tom (who is returning as Loki in the Disney+ series) were seen walking in the pouring rain with guards walking alongside them as they filmed in Atlanta, Ga.

So far, Owen‘s role has been kept under wraps, and it appears as if Sophia Di Martino was on the set that evening as well. Both roles are unclear at this time, but it looks like Sophie is in a superhero suit!

Tom played Loki in many Marvel superhero movies including Thor, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, and Avengers: Infinity War.

Disney+ Super Bowl 2020 Commercial: See First Looks at 'Loki', 'WandaVision' & 'Falcon and the Winter Soldier'

The very first footage of Loki with Tom Hiddleston was revealed during Disney+‘s Super Bowl LIV Commercial.

“I’m gonna burn this place to the ground,” Tom eerily says in character.

The series just added this other famous actor to the cast!

New looks a Falcon and the Winter Soldier with Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie, and WandaVision with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany were also teased.

“The Universe is Expanding”, the streaming service teases with the three new looks.

Owen Wilson Joins 'Loki' Series with Tom Hiddleston!

Owen Wilson is joining the cast of the upcoming Disney+ series Loki, which will star Tom Hiddleston as his beloved Marvel character.

No details have been revealed yet about Owen‘s character, but his involvement in the show has been confirmed by Variety.

Tom recently has been training for the upcoming series and has shared an inside look on Instagram. The official plot for the show has not yet been disclosed, but Variety reports it will feature Loki “popping up at different times in human history and influencing major events.”

Tom Hiddleston Teases New Details About 'Loki' TV Series

Tom Hiddleston is preparing to play Loki again in the upcoming Marvel television series for Disney+ and he’s revealing new details about the show.

The 38-year-old actor says that the series will be six hours long, which will likely be split into six one-hour episodes.

Tom opened up in a new interview with MTV News, during which he revealed how he found out the series would happen, plus much more.

“I feel like I know him, I’ve been playing him for 10 years now, and that’s crazy to me,” Tom said. “By the time it’s out, I’ll be 40. When I was cast I was 29, which is a great chunk of my life…but the point is, there’s a sense of ‘I know this character now, I feel the audience knows him.’ Playing him, and playing him truthfully, but presenting him with new challenges which then have to change him in different ways is the most exciting aspect of it. You have his specific gifts, his intelligence, his treachery, his mischief, his magic, and then seeing him come up against more formidable opponents the like of which he has never seen or known.”

Tom is currently making his Broadway debut in the play Betrayal.
