Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is immortalized in balloon form!

The 48-year-old wrestling superstar and actor was hilariously turned into a balloon for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday (November 26).

The balloon, disguised as real coverage from the parade, was an ad for The Rock‘s upcoming TV comedy, Young Rock, which is set to arrive in 2021.

In the commercial break, Today‘s Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb remarked about the balloon, dressed up in his infamous ’90s blue jeans, fanny pack, silver chain and black turtleneck look used in many memes

Young Rock “follows the wild times of Dwayne as a kid, a teen, and a college footballer,” according to Hoda, while Savannah said that she “can’t wait to see what kind of trouble little D.J. got into.”

“Never in my wildest dreams…I’ve been a lucky SOB to have done some pretty cool s–t in my career, but after seeing my @nbcyoungrock FANNY PACK FLOAT in the #MacysThanksgivingParade, this might take the cake. This time in my life may represent when I had just $7bucks in my fanny pack, but at least I had enough COOL to tuck my turtleneck in and wear fake silver jewelry because it was all I could afford 🤣🤦🏽‍♂️ And my massive plucked raised eyebrow is the stuff that dreams (and nightmares) are made of 😂💀 Float on, kid.. you might just make it one day,” The Rock wrote on Instagram.

Bebe performed her new song “Baby I’m Jealous” and she rode on the Jennie-O float. Tori performed her holiday song “25th” and she rode on Lifetime’s Christmas in Times Square float.

Not all of the stars appeared live on Thanksgiving Day and some of them had pre-taped segments, which were filmed on 34th Street in front of the Macy’s flagship store.

Other celebs in attendance at the parade included Karol G, Keke Palmer, Sofia Carson, Ally Brooke, Brett Young, Lauren Alaina, CNCO, Patti LaBelle, Jimmy Fallon, and the Goo Goo Dolls.

The Rockettes are going viral on social media – but it’s because of something they didn’t do!

The legendary dance troupe performed during the 2020 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday (November 26) in New York City. However, a frenzy soon kicked off on social media once viewers realized they never did their classic kick line!

The reason, as New York Times pointed out earlier in the week, is due to social distancing amid the pandemic.

“18 of the 80 Rockettes will appear in their wooden soldiers costume with custom-made masks. (That particular Rockettes number was chosen because the dancers have limited contact with one another, which means no kickline.),” the outlet reported.

Many viewers likely did not know about that decision ahead of the parade, and reacted strongly on social media.

“The @Rockettes didn’t do their legendary kicks so I….Very precise. Beautiful costumes. #MacysParade,” wrote April Reign.

“Leave it to the 2020 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to have the world famous kicking line of the @Rockettes, not kick during their performance. The year that keeps ruining everything. Hysterical,” added another user.

Still, plenty of social media users praised the performance and pointed out that they still pulled out a fantastic performance given the circumstances.

“The Rockettes were amazing! I know they didn’t do the famous kick line, but the drill was PERFECTLY done and incredibly difficult!!” added NBC’s JC Monahan.

The Rockettes have promised a kickline for an upcoming performance though.

“Thank you for all the love for our Wooden Soldier routine at #MacysParade! If you’re excited for a kickline, tune in to @nbc’s tree lighting Dec. 2 for a special Rockette kickline for fans at home!” they tweeted.

The 2020 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is happening today (November 26) and we have the full list of balloons that you can expect to see this year!

Things are going to be a lot different than normal this time around due the pandemic and spectators won’t be allowed to line the streets to watch the balloons and floats march down Broadway.

Instead of the normal 2.5-mile parade route, the event will be held solely in Herald Square on 34th Street, right outside of the flagship Macy’s store.

Some new balloons will be debuted this year, including The Boss Baby and Red Titan from Ryan’s World.

The 2020 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be kicking off momentarily and you might notice something while your favorite entertainers are performing live in New York City.

Almost all of the singers appearing live on 34th Street are going to be lip-syncing during their performances and this is completely normal for the annual event.

Nearly all performers in the parade have been lip syncing instead of singing live for years for multiple reasons, the biggest one being that floats are moving throughout the parade and having singers perform live would be a logistical nightmare.

Another reason is the cold weather that performers frequently have to face during the parade. It estimated to be in the high 50s with rain in New York City this year, while some years the weather is much colder than that.

John Legend previously revealed, “Fun fact. We all have to lip sync on this parade because the floats don’t have the capacity to handle the sound requirements for a live performance… Know that if you come to my shows, the vocals are 100% live!”

A couple years ago, a Grammy-winning singer broke tradition and actually sang LIVE for a change!

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is still happening this year amid the pandemic, but things will be different because of what’s happening in the world.

In normal years, it’s estimated that 3 million people line the streets of New York City on Thanksgiving morning to watch the balloons and floats march down Broadway en route to Herald Square.

For 2020, the parade route is being shortened significantly and will only take place along 34th street near the flagship Macy’s store. This is the portion of the parade that we normally see on TV every year and the street will be closed down to detract spectators from congregating.

“Every year we have two parades: There’s the one for New Yorkers who line the parade along the streets, and we knew that couldn’t happen, we couldn’t march from uptown to downtown,” executive producer Susan Tercero told Variety. “The other parade is the one that happens on television for 50 million people. We knew that was going to be our safest way of moving forward.”

The city of New York will be treating the parade like a movie set and the NYPD will make sure people can’t crash the event.

Balloons, floats, musical performances, and Santa Claus will all appear, but the amount of people participating in the event has been reduced by 88% and those people will only hail from the New York/Tri-State area.

“We found ways to have a balance of both [live and pre-tape],” Tercero said. “We will still be doing it live because there is some magic in that. I think that people are missing live entertainment, one of those things where you never know what’s going to happen. And people will want to tune in to see how we put it all together.”

There will be NO marching bands from high schools or colleges this year as the producers decided to not include anyone under the age of 18 due to health and safety concerns.

The balloon inflation public event that happens the night before Thanksgiving is also not happening this year. The balloons also will not be operated by hundreds of people holding the ropes. Instead, Toro tractor vehicles will tow them.

“You’re still going to see them flying high,” Tercero said. “It’s just the way that they are being carried down the street is different. We have done many, many iterations of this and training to try and make sure that this is the right way to go. I think it’s going to still get the same essence and the balloons flying high amongst the buildings that we’re used to seeing.”

Al Roker has no time for butter!

The 65-year-old TV commentator hilariously went viral during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday (November 28) with a small interaction during the parade.

At one point, Al approached a man dressed as a stick of butter and said: “I hate to butter you up, but you’ve got to move on, okay? There you go,” he said, while playfully shoving the butter man.

“Get out of here ya butter! I can’t believe it’s not butter!” he added after the shove.

Social media especially enjoyed the ridiculous interaction, with celebrities like Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeting about the “altercation.”

“You butter believe I did. That guy is toast,” Al amusingly wrote back.
