Manny Jacinto is engaged!

The 32-year-old The Good Place actor has announced that he and longtime girlfriend Dianne Doan are getting married.

Manny shared the exciting news at the 2019 Vulture Festival on Saturday (November 9) and revealed that he was inspired by his The Good Place character to take the next big step.

“I was toying when to pop the question for a long time,” Manny said via People. “I looked at the Janet/Jason relationship, and there’s a sentence that Jason says to Chidi about relationships and it hit me pretty hard. I thought it was a sign that I needed to do it, and a week later I popped the question.”

Manny then went on to share how he proposed to Dianne.

“I took her to places that really meant a lot to us,” Manny said. “Where I first met her, where I first saw her, where we had our first date, and where we had our first dance class.”

Manny continued: “I had these canvas things written down with a message saying why the places were important to us. At every location I had her close her eyes, I’d hold up the canvas, and she would open her eyes.”

“I took her through five different places, and at the last place I had our families waiting and I proposed,” Manny shared.

Also seen at the event were co-stars Jameela Jamil, D’Arcy Carden, ‎William Jackson Harper, Manny Jacinto, and Marc Evan Jackson.

At the event, creator Michael Schur revealed he’ll never kill off the character Derek on the show, played by Jason Mantzoukas.

“Without saying anything about whether or not we have even considered bringing Derek back, the original conception was at the end of the episode, we were going to get rid of him. Janet was going to blink and he was going to disappear,” Michael said. “Then we were like, ‘Wait a second. Maybe she should stash him in her void somewhere so we can bring Mantzoukas back.’ Because I think Jason Mantzoukas is one of the 12 funniest human beings who’s ever lived on the planet.”

“We kept saying ‘We can’t kill him. He can’t disappear.’ We will always just stash Derek somewhere so that he always at least has the possibility of coming back, because I love him so much,” he added.
