Maria Bello Will Be Leaving 'NCIS' Next Season

Maria Bello is leaving NCIS during the upcoming season.

The 53-year-old actress has starred as psychologist Jacqueline “Jack” Sloane since season 15, and will be making her exit in the upcoming episodes of the hit drama.

Deadline reports that Maria will appear in only eight episodes of the 18th season, and will wrap up her storyline.

NCIS‘s 17th season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic and originally planned to conclude the season with the 400th episode.

That important episode will now air this fall as production starts up again.

“We have a lot of flexibility to air the first five or six episodes [of Season 18] in any order we want,” co-showrunner Frank Cardea shared in an interview with TV Line.

He added that “we will still shoot 400 as the second one and air it as the second one.”

Just last year, one of the original stars of the show left the series, and opened up about the reason why.

Gina Rodriguez, Sonequa Martin-Green & More Women in TV Emphasize Jobs as Time's Up Next Step!

Gina Rodriguez shares a laugh while speaking at CBS’ 2018 The EYEspeak Summit held at the Pacific Design Center on Wednesday (March 14) in West Hollywood, Calif.

The 33-year-old Jane the Virgin star was joined by her co-star Diane Guerrero, Star Trek: Discovery‘s Sonequa Martin-Green and Wilson Cruz, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend‘s Gabrielle Ruiz and Aline Brosh McKenna, NCISMaria Bello, former Greys Anatomy star Sara Ramirez and transgender activist Ashlee Marie Preston.

“For so long I’ve seen the women that came before me fighting for the one seat at the table, and what happens when you fight for the one seat at the table is that you, instinctually, push the people aside because that one seat is important to you — that one seat is everything you have, everything you’ve been fighting for,” Jane expressed (via Variety). “That is a cultural norm that we should erase.”

The key next step in the Time’s Up movement is to create jobs, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend showrunner Aline said: “There’s so much solidarity in being together but we need to offer each other economic opportunities. Hashtags, tweeting, that’s all great, but jobs — that’s what we need,” Aline continued. “You have to hire women and promote women and let them fail and protect them. I wish more women had done that for me and I’m very determined to do that for more women.”

FYI: Sonequa is wearing a Dylanlex ring and earrings. Diane is wearing a Cos dress, Malone Souliers heels, and a Pierre Hardy clutch.
