Nick Offerman & Mary Louise Parker to Play Colin Kaepernick's Adoptive Parents in Netflix Show

Netflix has cast Colin Kaepernick‘s parents in their new limited series!

Nick Offerman and Mary-Louise Parker have been cast as the 33-year-old former NFL player’s parents Teresa and Rick Kaepernick in the upcoming series titled Colin in Black & White, Variety reports.

Colin in Black & White will be a six-episode series focusing on the football player’s “early life as a Black child growing up with a white adopted family and his journey to become a great quarterback while defining his identity.”

The series has already been written and Colin is set to provide narration for Colin in Black & White.

So Many Stars Attended the Opening Night of Broadway's 'Girl from the North Country'

The opening night performance of the new Broadway musical Girl from the North Country had so many stars on the red carpet on Thursday (March 5) at the Belasco Theatre in New York City.

It was date night for married couples Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita, and Michael C. Hall and Morgan Macgregor.

More stars in attendance included James Van Der Beek, Ben Platt and his former Dear Evan Hansen co-star Michael Park, Corey Stoll, Brooke Shields, Jesse Eisenberg, Tony Shalhoub, Bernadette Peters, Jane Krakowski, Martha Plimpton, Rosie O’Donnell, Kathy Najimy, Mary-Louise Parker, Brian D’Arcy James, Alysia Reiner, Sophia Anne Caruso, and Wesley Taylor.

Girl from the North Country, which features the songs of Bob Dylan, is now playing on Broadway. The New York Times gave it a rave review and noted it as a Critic’s Pick.

Billy Porter, Tony Shalhoub & More Step Out To Support 'A Soldier's Play' Broadway Opening!

Billy Porter keeps it chic as he strikes a pose on the red carpet at the opening night for A Soldier’s Play held at the American Airlines Theater on Tuesday (January 21) in New York City.

The 50-year-old Pose star was joined at the event by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s Tony Shalhoub and his wife Brooke Adams, Weeds star Mary Louise Parker and her son William Parker, Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie, Kate Walsh, Sunny Hostin, Phylicia Rashad and Cicely Tyson as they all stepped out to show their support.

Also in attendance were the cast of the play David Alan Grier, Blair Underwood, Nnamdi Asomugha, Jerry O’Connell, McKinley Belcher III, Rob Demery, Jared Grimes, Billy Eugene Jones, Nate Mann, Warner Miller, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Lee Aaron Rosen.

A Soldier’s Play follows an officer’s race against his white leadership to unravel the crime of a black sergeant’s murder. A hair-raising mystery set in 1944, the play is seen on Broadway for the first time.

'Weeds' Sequel Series with Mary-Louise Parker in the Works!

A sequel series to the hit show Weeds is in the works and Mary-Louise Parker is attached to both star in and executive produce the series, according to Variety.

The show is being developed at Starz with Lionsgate Television producing. The original series aired on Showtime for eight seasons and wrapped in 2012.

Jenji Kohan, who created the series, is not attached right now. Victoria Morrow, who was a writer on the original series, is writing the new show.

Lionsgate is calling the show Weeds 4.20 and it “picks up with the Botwin family 10 years after the events of the original series in an era of legalization.”

“As excited as we are about our new series, I want to remind everyone that ‘the old is also new,’ and we’re pleased to be bringing two of the most acclaimed shows in television history, Mad Men and Weeds, to the global syndication marketplace next year,” Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said. “We will be launching the marketing campaign for Mad Men, winner of 16 Emmys and five Golden Globes during its eight-year run, later this month. And we’re thrilled to be back in business with series star and producer Mary Louise Parker on what we’re calling Weeds 4.20, already in active development at Starz, as we prepare a comprehensive and integrated rollout for one of television’s most beloved properties.”

Mary-Louise Parker's Kids Join Her for Rare Appearance at Broadway Opening!

The 55-year-old actress Tony and Emmy-winning actress rarely makes public appearances with both of her kids. The last time was at her previous Broadway opening for Heisenberg in 2016!

William, 15, is Mary-Louise‘s son with ex-boyfriend Billy Crudup and he was named after his dad. Caroline was adopted from Ethiopia as a baby girl in 2007.

Also joining Mary-Louise at the party was her co-star from The Sound Inside, Will Hochman. The two of them are earning rave reviews for their performances in the new play, which is now running through January 12.

Mary-Louise Parker Explains What Attracted Her to Broadway's 'The Sound Inside'

They were joined at the press event by playwright Adam Rapp and director David Cromer.

Mary-Louise appeared on The Today Show that morning and talked about what attracted her to the play.

“I just loved the writer Adam Rapp. He’s so gifted and his prose is so beautiful. I just found the writing so compelling. I’m not always the best judge of what people are going to like, but I just thought it was really interesting,” she said.

Mary-Louise also said she didn’t think she was the best actress for the role and initially recommended friends like Laura Linney and Cynthia Nixon to the producers.

The play is now in previews at Broadway’s Studio 54.
