Melissa McCarthy is opening up about her new life.

The Bridesmaids actress and comedian is on the cover of InStyle‘s April 2021 issue.

Here’s what she had to say…

On being a comedian in a year of hardships: “You don’t have to like what I do, or you don’t have to like comedy. But you need to be able to laugh at something. Ben [Falcone] and I talk about it a lot from the perspective of ‘Will this make somebody happy? Can some­body at the end of an 18-hour ER shift just check out and laugh for, you know, an hour?’ It’s the one thing we can try to do, and we try to do our best. I’m not smart enough to know how to purify the water, but I can throw myself down a flight of stairs and hope that it lets someone forget their troubles.”

On living in Australia while filming projects: “It has changed my entire concept of being. Everything can feel like home. I am connected to Australia in a way that I didn’t anticipate. I could very easily live here for the rest of my life. I’m in love with it. Everyone is so chatty. I’m a Midwestern gal who lives in L.A., where no one wants to talk to you. And here I’ll be in the grocery store, and I can’t go down a single aisle without talking to somebody. It’s won­derful. I come home, and I will have had 15 conversations.”

On the 10-year anniversary of Bridesmaids: “That film in­stilled the best lesson of you just have to let things be what they are, because it wasn’t sup­posed to work like that. Annie [Mumolo] and Kristen [Wiig] wrote it, and they had never written anything before. And it was like, ‘We’re going to let your weirdness ride.’ And people on set were laughing and crying full-out in almost ev­ery scene because everybody felt so free and there wasn’t a lot of pressure. Certainly, no­body thought it was going to be a game changer. The fit was just perfect.”

Melissa McCarthy face is filled with boils after accidentally getting injected with super powers in the first trailer for Thunder Force.

Starring opposite Octavia Spencer, the upcoming Netflix movie centers on former best friends, Emily (Spencer) and Lydia (McCarthy), who reconcile just moments before Lydia accidentally gets herself injected with a super serum that Emily invented.

Now, the two women must become the first superhero team and it’s up to them to battle the super-powered Miscreants and save Chicago from the clutches of The King.

Bobby Cannavale, Jason Bateman and Pom Klemetieff also star in the movie.

Thunder Force will premiere April 9!

Melissa McCarthy, Matt Damon, and Luke Hemsworth were photographed on the set of Thor: Love and Thunder for the first time!

They were photographed while filming on Tuesday (March 2) in Sydney, Australia. It appears as if the Thor movies are continuing the tradition of putting on a play within a play.

Melissa appeared to be in costume as Hela, the character played by Cate Blanchett in Thor: Ragnarok. It also appeared as if Matt Damon is reprising his role as Loki and Luke Hemsworth will once again be playing Thor in the play within the play. Luke‘s brother Chris Hemsworth plays Thor in the movies!

If you click through all the photos, you’ll also notice Melissa‘s husband, Ben Falcone, is also on set, as well as director Taika Waititi.

Disney made so many announcements this week and among them was the confirmation of the cast of the upcoming The Little Mermaid live-action remake.

It has been months since we first learned about who would be bringing these roles to life, but this is the first time Disney has confirmed some of the names.

The cast includes an Oscar winner, a five-time Grammy nominee, a Tony Award winner, and more.

The upcoming movie will be directed by Rob Marshall, who previously directed movie musicals like Chicago, Nine, Into the Woods, and Mary Poppins Returns.

Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone are teaming up for a new Netflix comedy series!

The married duo will be starring in and executive producing the workplace comedy God’s Favorite Idiot, which has already been given a 16-episode order, Deadline reports. Ben also created the series.

Here’s the show’s synopsis: “God’s Favorite Idiot follows Clark Thompson (Falcone), a midlevel tech-support employee who finds love with co-worker Amily Luck (McCarthy) at exactly the same time he becomes the unwitting messenger of God. Also, there’s rollerskating, a lake of fire and an impending apocalypse.”

This will be Melissa and Ben‘s sixth project together. They executive produced and appeared in the comedy series Nobodies along with Bridesmaids, Tammy, The Boss, and Life of the Party.

Melissa McCarthy is dishing on her husband Ben Falcone‘s crush!

The 50-year-old two-time Oscar nominated actress appeared for a virtual interview on Ellen airing on Thursday (November 19).

While chatting with Ellen, Melissa revealed that her husband has a crush on Harry Styles.

“He really does. He’s fallen pretty hard for Harry Styles,” Melissa shared. “It’s not a bad choice, but sometimes I’m just waiting for him to be like, ‘If you could cut your hair a little shorter…’”

“As if me cutting my hair would make me a dead ringer for Harry Styles!” Melissa joked. “I would just look more tragic, oh god.”

If you missed it, Melissa recently apologized after facing some major fan backlash.

Melissa McCarthy has issued a big apology to her fans after a campaign she is attached to was supporting an anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ charity.

Taking to Instagram, the 50-year-old actress shared her regret about the charity being included and thanked fans for letting her and HBOMax know about it.

The 20 Days of Kindness campaign is attached to promote her upcoming film, Superintelligence, and one of the charities highlighted was Exodus Cry, a Christian organization that states it’s “committed to abolishing sex trafficking and breaking the cycle of commercial sexual exploitation.”

News quickly spread about how the organization’s CEO Benjamin Nolot has a history of making comments against abortion and homosexuality.

“It has come to our attention that our 20 Days of Kindness, which is a kindness hub that we started to shine a light on 20 great charities, had one in there that…there’s no other way to say it, we blew it,” Melissa shared in her video. “We made a mistake and we backed a charity that upon proper vetting stands for everything that we do not.”

She continued, making sure that her fans knew it’s not a charity she supported knowing what she knows now.

“Because the answer is, No we do not,” Melissa said. “We have pulled it. We are so incredibly grateful for you ringing the bell and helping us be better. We’re sorry for our mistake. Oh boy, are we are sorry for it. Can’t believe that we missed it.”

Launched earlier this week for World Kindness Day, the campaign highlights a cause each day and encourages everyone to donate if they can.

For the campaign, HBOMax is donating $20,000 to each organization.
