Melissa McCarthy stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday (July 29) and teased the possibility of her taking on the role of Ursula in Disney’s live-action, The Little Mermaid!

“I read that you are going to be a part of the live-action remake of Little Mermaid,” Kimmel began inquiring. McCarthy interrupted and asked, “What’s that?”

“I hadn’t heard about that. It seems like it will be an awfully fun thing to do. I’d love if Disney gave me a little ringy-ding-ding,” McCarthy joked.

“We’ll see,” Melissa added as she proceeded to wink at the camera. “If it did happen, it would be very wonderful, Disney.”

Melissa McCarthy also talked about her dad trapping squirrels in the backyard, the worst date she has ever been on, her new movie The Kitchen with Elisabeth Moss and Tiffany Haddish, and embarrassing her kids.

It was recently rumored that Javier Bardem is in talks for the role of Ariel’s father, King Triton!

Elisabeth Moss, (her co-star in The Kitchen) on McCarthy: “She’s shockingly normal and down-to-earth. I feel like that’s said of so many famous people. But Melissa actually is, like, in her core.”

Octavia Spencer (friend and fellow Groundlings member), on Melissa: “The moment she walked onto the stage we’d all chuckle in anticipation. She was so beloved. The lines were always around the corner.”

On her fashion line: “I’ve been every shape and size that’s out there, and I just found it harder and harder to find stuff,” she says. “I thought, I’m modern and young and want to wear what every- body else is wearing. Why is this such a strange request?”

You may remember, Melissa actually confessed to being a huge fan of the 17-year-old entertainer a few weeks ago.

“I think every super cool 17-year-old musician needs a 48-year-old midwestern mother of two as kinda like her hype man,” Melissa said on the Ellen show previously. “I wanted to prove that I do have what it takes to perform with her, so I put something together!”

The 48-year-old Life of the Party actress would take on the role of the famous villain and put her own spin on the classic “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” Variety reports.

Disney reportedly wants to cast “contemporary and compelling” actors, while still honoring the original 1989 animated movie.

Mary Poppins Returns director Rob Marshall will helm the adaptation, which will include the original songs as well as new ones from Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Lin-Manuel is also producing with Rob, John DeLuca, and Marc Platt.

Disney’s live-action The Lion King is also set to premiere soon, on July 19. Watch the trailer!

Can you imagine Billie Eilish popping out of a box and scaring you?

Well that just happened to her superfan Melissa McCarthy during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which aired on Wednesday (May 30).

Melissa was talking about the music video parody she did of Billie‘s “Bad Guy” video last week when she guest co-hosted Ellen‘s show. All of a sudden, the young star burst out of the table next to the comedian.

“I’m still weirdly [shaking],” Melissa said after the scare happened. “You’re just not supposed to experience that.”

FYI: Melissa is wearing an A.L.C. dress.

The upcoming Andrea Berloff-directed film centers around the wives of New York gangsters in Hell’s Kitchen in the 1970s who continue to operate their husbands’ rackets after they’re locked up in prison.

Domhnall Gleeson, Common, and Margo Martindale also star in the film.
