The Rolling Stones Drop 'Living In a Ghost Town,' Mick Jagger Explains the Song's Message

The Rolling Stones just dropped their new song “Living In a Ghost Town” and you can listen to it right here!

The song was recorded before the lockdown that is currently happening around the world and they finished it while in isolation.

“So the Stones were in the studio recording some new material before the lockdown and there was one song we thought would resonate through the times that we’re living in right now. We’ve worked on it in isolation. And here it is – It’s called ‘Living in Ghost Town’ – I hope you like it,” Mick said in a statement.

Mick also opened up about the song’s message in an interview with Apple Music.

“It wasn’t written for now but it was written about being in a place which was full of life. And then now there’s all bereft of life, so to speak. And when I went back to what I’d written originally lyrically, it was all full of, well I didn’t use them in the lyrics, it was all full of plague terms and things like that. I never actually used that, but it was all there. It was very close to the times that we’re living through now. But Keith Richards and I both had the idea that we should release it,” Mick said. “But I said, ‘Well I’ve got to rewrite it.’ Some of it is not going to work and some of it was a bit weird and a bit too dark. So I slightly rewrote it. I didn’t have to rewrite very much to be honest. It’s very much how I originally did it.”

You can download the song now on iTunes or watch the video below on YouTube.
