Trevante Rhodes to Play Mike Tyson in Hulu's Unauthorized Series About His Life

Hulu is making a television series about the life of Mike Tyson and they just found their leading man!

Trevante Rhodes, best known for his work in Moonlight and Bird Box, will play the legendary boxer in the eight-episode limited series Iron Mike.

Deadline notes that the series will “explore the wild, tragic and controversial life and career of former world champion Tyson – one of the most polarizing figures in sports culture.”

The series is an unauthorized one as Tyson has already expressed that he’s not happy about the show. He’s actually working on a separate series about his life with an Oscar-winning actor attached to play him.

The team behind I, Tonya – director Craig Gillespie, screenwriter Steven Rogers, and producer Margot Robbie – have reteamed for this project. Production will begin later this year.

Mike Tyson Gives Blessing To Jamie Foxx To Play Him In Upcoming Limited Series

Jamie Foxx will be playing Mike Tyson on the small screen in a limited series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The legendary boxer has given his blessing to the project which will be helmed by Antoine Fuqua and executive produced by Martin Scorsese.

“I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time,” Mike shared in a statement. “With the recent launch of Legends Only League and the excitement from fans following my return to the ring, now feels like the perfect moment. I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains.”

The project has been in the works as a movie for quite a while and was first announced to fans last year.

However, the project is now set as a limited series versus a movie for the big screen.

Jamie has been sharing his workout regime with fans on social media to gear up for the project. Check out the latest here…

Dwyane Wade Thanks This Celeb for Defending His Daughter Against Transphobic Comments

Dwyane Wade says he “appreciated” Mike Tyson defending his family.

During a new interview, the 38-year-old retired NBA player opened up about the 54-year-old boxing icon speaking out against rapper Boosie Badazz, who made transphobic comments abut Dwyane‘s daughter Zaya.

“I actually talked to Mike about that early in the pandemic,” Dwyane shared on an interview with Central Ave. “We had a conversation. I appreciated from a standpoint of, you know, Mike is someone who has never tried to be perfect. He is someone who has learned from this journey of life.”

“He’s so smart. He is so educated and knowledgeable about life,” he added.

Earlier this summer, Boosie made an appearance on Mike‘s Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson podcast and talked about the transphobic comments he made earlier about Dwyane‘s 13-year-old daughter.

“I really commented on the Dwyane Wade situation because I got offended because it’s a child,” Boosie said to Mike. “That’s really why I got offended.”

Mike responded, “What happened to you that you think that you’re somebody that can comment on somebody’s life?”

Dwyane then added, “I’ve never came out and said anything to anybody that feels a certain way about me or someone else in my family and my loved ones. They don’t know us. They don’t know our heart. They definitely don’t know Zaya. So, all I do is what my mama say, ‘Just pray for them.’”

Dwyane and wife Gabrielle Union recently praised Zaya during the 2020 GLAAD Media Awards.
