Nelly is featured in one of the biggest TikTok trends of the year and he was surprised to see it go viral!

The 46-year-old rapper is the latest guest on the Spout podcast and he opened up about his song “Hot in Herre” being featured in the #BussItChallenge.

For those who don’t know, the challenge uses the new Erica Banks song “Buss It,” which samples Nelly‘s smash hit song.

Nelly says he heard the song a long time before the TikTok challenge started because her team reached out to get the sample approved.

“I actually heard the record much before its release because they wanted to get it cleared to avoid further down the line… which is the smart thing to do. But when I heard it, I was like, ‘This is dope.’ I’m happy it worked out for Erica. I’m glad she got a huge record on her hands, so congratulations to her,” he said.

Nelly then shared his thoughts on the actual challenge!

“I didn’t know anything about the #BussItChallenge though. That was something that just came about, but I think it’s dope. My girl liked it. She did it!” he added.

Nelly also revealed how he’s benefiting from the trend. He said, “Yeah! Definitely. The streaming rights and everything like that… I’m definitely rooting for it!”

Nelly is celebrating 20 years of his debut album!

The 46-year-old rapper and three-time AMAs winner performed a medley of his hits from his debut album Country Grammar at the 2020 American Music Awards, which is airing on Sunday (November 22) and taking place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

For his performance, Nelly took to the stage to perform a medley of his hits “Country Grammar,” “E.I.” and “Ride Wit Me.” He was joined onstage by City Spud, who was featured on “Ride wit Me.”

Cedric the Entertainer also made an appearance on stage during Nelly‘s performance.

Tomorrow night, Nelly will be competing in the Dancing with the Stars finale! Find out the three other finalists here.

Nelly is looking cool arriving at the 2020 American Music Awards!

The 46-year-old “Hot in Herre” rapper kept things casual while arriving at the awards show, which is airing on Sunday (November 22) and taking place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

For the red carpet, Nelly sported a pair of dark sunglasses while showing off his muscles in a tight, black T-shirt paired with leather pants for his arrival.

Nelly is set to take the stage during the awards show for a performance.

Tomorrow night, Nelly will be competing in the Dancing with the Stars finale! Find out the three other finalists here.

The 45-year-old rapper danced a Viennese Waltz with Daniella to Tim McGraw‘s “Humble and Kind”.

Many fans were shocked to find out that Nelly and Tim are actually still friends, after they worked together on his song, “Over and Over” almost 15 years ago.

Nelly shared in his video package that he’s always loved and felt connected to country music.

The pair again earned three 8s for a total of 24 out of 30 points from the judges.

Nelly and Daniella Karagach sizzled on the dance floor on Dancing With The Stars on Tuesday night (September 22).

The 45-year-old rapper and Daniella performed a Cha Cha to “Let’s Grove” by Earth, Wind & Fire, and ahead of the show, Nelly revealed how much a fan he was of the group.

“That’s a song that I basically grew up listening to, all through my house, with my father, my uncle, my mother and everybody. Every family function,” he told ET. “How can you not be [a fan]? Especially with me being in music, I mean, you’re talking about GOATs. You’re talking about possibly one of the greatest bands to have ever walked the planet.”

Nelly and Daniella earned 18 out of 30 points.

The 45-year-old “Hot In Herre” rapper left the Dancing with the Stars studio after rehearsal on Friday (September 18) in Los Angeles.

Nelly showed off his buff bod going shirtless as he left the studio with partner Daniella Karagach.

After rehearsal, Nelly took to Instagram to share a photo leaving the studio, along with the caption, “Week 2 rehearsals kickin ya Boy #YUNGSWIVEL AZZZZ..!!! Lol she @daniellakaragach small but be afraid..!! BE VERRRY AFRAID..!!! Lol 💃🏽🕺🏽..!!!!”

Daniella commented on the pic, writing, “😂😂😂 KILLIN IT SWIVEL💪🏼”

The 45-year-old rapper met up with partner, Danielle Karagach, to rehearse for their second dance on the show, which airs on Mondays.

Nelly and Daniella both shared all the ways to vote for them on the show on their social media platforms.

Ahead of the premiere, Nelly dished about his partnership with Daniella, saying that “she’s given me so much encouragement, so I’m feeling a little bit more comfortable than I was on the first day.”
