Octavia Spencer transforms into Madam C.J. Walker in the brand-new trailer for her upcoming series Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker!

The 47-year-old Truth Be Told actress stars in the new visual released by Netflix on Tuesday (February 25).

Here’s the synopsis for the four-part limited series, which was inspired by the book “On Her Own Ground: The Life and Times of Madam C. J. Walker” written by Walker’s great-great-granddaughter A’Lelia Bundles: “Octavia Spencer stars as Madam C.J. Walker, the trailblazing African American haircare entrepreneur who was America’s first female self-made millionaire.”

Self Made “brings the uplifting story of this cultural icon to the screen for the first time. Against all odds, Walker overcame post-slavery racial and gender biases, personal betrayals, and business rivalries to build a ground-breaking brand that revolutionized black haircare, as she simultaneously fought for social change.”

It also stars Blair Underwood, Tiffany Haddish, Carmen Ejogo, Garrett Morris, Kevin Carroll, and Bill Bellamy.

Fans of the movie Ma have been creating fun memes this week in which they insert “Ma” into famous movie titles and photoshop Octavia Spencer into the posters for those films… and she’s loving it!

The Oscar-winning actress has been sharing her favorite memes including ones like Ma Ma Land, Marasite, Call Ma By Your Name, The Greatest ShowMA, The IrishMA, and more.

An Instagram account called @dontmakemedrinkalone is dedicated to “preserving Ma’s contributions to film and the arts” and they’ve been sharing a bunch of fun posters featuring the character. Octavia even follows the account!

Ma was released in May 2019 and was a hit at the box office, grossing $61 million worldwide on a $5 million budget.

In Ma, Octavia plays a lonely woman named Sue Ann who befriends a group of teenagers looking for someone to buy them alcohol. She offers the kids the chance to avoid drinking and driving by hanging out in the basement of her home. But as Ma’s hospitality starts to curdle into obsession, what began as a teenage dream turns into a terrorizing nightmare, and Ma’s place goes from the best place in town to the worst place on earth. The film is now on Blu-ray, DVD, and on demand!

Just moments alter, the 40-year-old actor hit the blue carpet for the premiere of his new Disney Pixar movie, Onward, at the El Capitan Theatre.

Naomi, 51, went colorful in a pink dress paired with a black blazer while Octavia, 47, donned a black, velvet black over a gray dress for the awards event.

Octavia Spencer was supposed to present an award at the 2020 Golden Globes, but she didn’t show up to the actual event!

Now she’s explaining why.

Octavia posted a photo of a hair piece on her Instagram and captioned the picture, “Well, since she won’t be worn to the #Globes tonight because someone (uh me) is congested, coughing and in full blown sweat 😓 mode….We thought we’d wish all nominees the best time tonight especially first timers!!! #fluseason.”
