Olivia Colman is making her debut as Queen Elizabeth!

The 45-year-old actress appears in the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated third season of The Crown released on Friday (September 20).

The trailer reveals the first footage of the upcoming season, in which Olivia takes over for Claire Foy, who played the Queen in the first two seasons of the show.

The third and fourth seasons of the show will chronicle Queen Elizabeth‘s accession to the present day, and will also include Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Tobias Menzies as The Duke of Edinburgh, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, Ben Daniels as Lord Snowdon, Jason Watkins as Prime Minister Harold Wilson and Charles Dance as Lord Mountbatten.

In Season 3, Queen Elizabeth (Colman) and her family struggle to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing Britain. From cold-war paranoia, through to the jet-set and the space age — the exuberance of the 1960s and the long hangover of the 1970s — Elizabeth and the Royals must adapt to a new, more liberated, but also more turbulent world.

The Crown returns on November 17. Watch the trailer inside…

The Crown's Olivia Colman Has a Message for Those Who Judge Her Body

Olivia Colman is on the cover of Vogue‘s October 2019 issue.

Here’s what the actress – who is taking over the role of Queen Elizabeth in The Crown season three – had to share with the mag…

On her body: “Over the years, pounds have gone on, and my body has changed; I’ve had children. If someone doesn’t like me because of the size of my bum, they can f*ck off. Because I’m quite a nice person to be with, actually.”

On her love of fashion: “I’d always used clothes as a sort of mask. I discovered that they can make you feel strong and powerful.”

On growing into her stardom: “To be the ingenue and to keep working is rare because once people see you as that, they don’t like the process of aging. Which is fucking ridiculous! I grew to my place.

Olivia Colman Reveals Why It's 'Horrendous' Taking Over Claire Foy's Role on 'The Crown'

Olivia Colman is in character as Queen Elizabeth in EW‘s preview issue for The Crown‘s third season!

In the interview, Olivia spoke about what it was like taking over the role from Claire Foy, who played the part in seasons one and two. Claire won many awards, including a Golden Globe and Emmy, for her work on the Netflix show.

“It’s horrendous. Everyone loves Claire Foy, so I have got the worst job in the world at the moment. You’re saying all the worst things, thanks!” Olivia joked, before adding, “It’s the same as any classical play you do — everyone will have already played that part before. The first week, I did feel myself trying to do Claire impressions. ‘What would she have done?’”

Olivia Colman Honored With BFI Fellowship from 'The Favourite' Director Yorgos Lanthimos!

Olivia Colman flashes a smile on the red carpet while attending the 2019 BFI Chairman’s Dinner held at Rosewood London on Wednesday evening (March 6) in London, England.

The 45-year-old Oscar winner was in attendance to receive the BFI Fellowship by Yorgos Lanthimos, who directed her in The Lobster and The Favourite.

“There isn’t an actor who can infuse each moment onscreen with such great humanity, drama and humour. No one can appear so fragile, magnetic, fierce, funny and real from one second to the next, or all at the same time,” Yorgos said during his speech (via Deadline).

Also in attendance to show their support were Olivia‘s husband Ed Sinclair, David Tennant, Richard E. Grant and his wife Joan Washington, as well as Olivia‘s The Crown co-stars Helena Bonham Carter and Tobias Menzies, who is stepping into the role of Prince Philip for the new season.

“I didn’t know what to expect this evening, turns out it’s a bit like a surprise birthday party… on the back of a lovely year,” Olivia said during her speech.
