Olivia Cooke Is Making a Promise About 'Game of Thrones' Prequel 'House of the Dragon'

Game of Thrones‘ new prequel, House of the Dragon, will not feature “egregious graphic violence towards women for no reason whatsoever,” star Olivia Cooke is promising.

“I wouldn’t feel comfortable in being a part of anything that has just egregious graphic violence towards women for no reason whatsoever, just because they want it to be tantalizing in a way that gets viewers,” Olivia told The Telegraph. “I was lucky enough to read the [prequel] script before, and it has changed a lot from the first few seasons [of ‘Thrones’]. I don’t think they’d be in their right minds to include any of that any more.”

Many fans of Game of Thrones were not happy to see so much rape and violence towards women on the show. Emilia Clarke once spoke out about how men were seemingly given different treatment on set, too.

As of right now, production for House of Dragon is on hold because of the pandemic, but she did recently have her first costume fitting.

“I’ve had one sort of preliminary fitting when they just draped some fabric on me but that was it,” Olivia said.
