Olivia Munn Reacts to 'Teen Vogue' Editor's Resurfaced Racist Tweets

Olivia Munn is speaking out.

The 40-year-old actress reacted to resurfaced racist tweets from Teen Vogue editor-in-chief Alexi McCammond on Wednesday (March 10), which prompted an apology from the brand.

“I think it’s important for people to hear her say that these were racist comments and there’s nothing excusable…I think that for myself and other people in our community, it would just be nice for her to just say exactly what it is. Call it what it is, it was, it was a racist stupid remark,” she said.

She also said the racist tweets were “hard to read,” explaining: “I remember growing up and having people tease me for my mom’s Asian eyes, for my Asian eyes and it’s a triggering thing to read. I think she should be judged more on how she’s taking the responsibility today.”

“We’ve all said silly things and she was 17 at the time. So, I definitely think there is, you know, a lot that we have to kind of give her some grace on for that.”

The interview will air in full tonight (March 10) on NBC News NOW at 8 p.m. ET during the special, The Racism Virus, presented by NBC News NOW and NBC Asian America.

“You know, there’ve been so many attacks against the Asian community, especially the elders in our community. Over the past year, it’s been an astronomical rise. I mean, just in New York alone, it’s a 1,900% increase in just a year,” she explained.

If you didn’t know, Olivia‘s mother is refugee from Vietnam.

“Our parents have been conditioned to keep their head down, to take it on the chin, to keep going to be treated like second-class citizens,” she went on to say.

Many advocates fighting against anti-Asian violence have at least partially blamed former president Donald Trump for fueling racist sentiment by referring to coronavirus as “China virus” and “Kung Flu.”

Olivia Munn Reveals Her Fibromyalgia Diagnosis & How She Lives With the Disorder

Olivia Munn is bravely revealing her diagnosis.

The 40-year-old actress opened up about having fibromyalgia, an autoimmune disorder. According to the Mayo Clinic, the disorder causes “widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain and spinal cord process painful and nonpainful signals.”

About the time before her diagnosis, Olivia told People, “I wasn’t really sure what was going on with me. I was going through a lot of different ailments for years and not knowing what was happening.”

“I had to change my wellness routine pretty significantly,” she added. “I had to be super thoughtful about what I put into my body. I had to start eating gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free — I had to cut out a lot of things that I was used to having every day and things that I really loved.”

“My situation was at a place where it was like, ‘You’re either going to go down a path where you’re going to get multiple autoimmune diseases, or you have to stop now and we can try to get you better,’ ” Olivia added. “It was like, ‘These are your choices.’ And so I had no choice, I was feeling so bad. I had to really listen to the doctor’s orders and cut all these things out.”

Olivia Munn Releases Statement on the Rise in Anti-Asian Hate Crimes: 'We Need Help Amplifying the Outrage'

Olivia Munn is asking for the public’s help to amplify the “Stop Asian Hate” message after a surge in hate crimes.

“Over the past few days I’ve found myself at a loss for words at the rise of anti-Asian hate crimes. The racist, verbal and physical assaults have left my community fearful to step outside. These hate crimes have spiked since Covid and continue to increase even though we ask for help, even though we ask our fellow Americans to be outraged for us, even though we ask for more mainstream media coverage,” Olivia began in her statement.

Olivia continued, listing the devastating hate crimes that have occurred: “A 91-year-old Asian American man was attacked from behind as he walked down the street in Oakland, an 84-year-old Thai American was murdered in San Francisco….a 64-year-old Vietnamese American woman was assaulted in San Jose and a Filipino American man was slashed in the face in Manhattan.”

“To simply exist as a minority in this country is seen as a protest to some,” she continued. “We need help amplifying the outrage. We need help to feel safe in our country. We need help to be safe in our country.”

Olivia Munn Reveals One of Her Ex Boyfriends Was 'The Worst' at Sex

Olivia Munn revealed that one of her exes was really “the worst at just having sex.”

“I have this one boyfriend, in particular, that was just the worst, the worst at just having sex,” Olivia said on Whitney Cummings’ “Good for You” podcast. “In fact, he went down on me twice during the years we were together, and I asked him once and said, ‘Why don’t you ever go down? By the way, I don’t want you to. But I’m just wondering why because I feel like most guys I can’t get out of my vagina and I’m like you have to fake it all the time.’”

She then insinuated that perhaps this ex might be gay. “He’s like, ‘Well, I just haven’t had a lot of, you know, experience doing it.’” And I was like, ‘Oh.’ And that’s when I was also like, ‘Um, he may like Benton [Whitney’s male podcast producer] instead,’ you know? It might be his kind of game and stuff.”

“But also it was like every every time we had sex, every time: Dark. Spooning from behind. Every time. It was a dark relationship. But also lights off, lights out. It was like, spooning from behind, so it’s like you don’t have to see my face, you have to see that it’s a girl,” she said.

Olivia has dated some famous faces over the years including NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, actor Joel Kinnaman, and most recently, Tucker Roberts. Olivia didn’t end up naming who she was referring to.
