Pete Davidson and O’Shea Jackson Jr. are pairing up!

The Saturday Night Live comedian and the Straight Outta Compton star are teaming up for American Sole, a “high-stakes, high-top dramatic comedy set in the world of after-market sneakers,” Deadline reported Thursday (August 20).

The film will be written and directed by How To Make It In America creator Ian Edelman and produced by Kevin Hart and NBA All-Star Chris Paul.

“American Sole is a story about the highly exciting, very profitable sneaker industry and the secondary sneaker market. With my own personal passion for sneakers and the culture that drives it, I’m excited to be a part of telling this entertaining story,” said Chris.

Here’s a description: “The pic follows two twentysomethings (Davidson, Jackson) with mountains of college debt who use the fast cash of after-market sneaker reselling to achieve their American dream. But when their startup runs out of cash and a shady investor is their only way out, the dream quickly becomes a nightmare.”

Brie Larson steps out on the carpet while attending the LA Community screening of her latest film Just Mercy held at Cinemark Baldwin Hills on Monday evening (January 6) in Los Angeles.

The 30-year-old Oscar-winning actress was joined at the event by her co-stars Jamie Foxx, Michael B. Jordan, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Karan Kendrick, as well as Bryan Stevenson, who wrote the book the film is based on.

Also in attendance at the screening to show his support were co-hosts Kobe Bryant and Terrence J.

Michael B. Jordan fights for justice for Jamie Foxx in the new trailer for their film Just Mercy.

The actors, ages 32 and 51, respectively, team up in the upcoming drama.

Here’s the synopsis: “A powerful and thought-provoking true story, Just Mercy follows young lawyer Bryan Stevenson (Michael B. Jordan) and his history-making battle for justice. After graduating from Harvard, Bryan had his pick of lucrative jobs. Instead, he heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or who were not afforded proper representation, with the support of local advocate Eva Ansley (Brie Larson).”

It continues, “One of his first, and most incendiary, cases is that of Walter McMillian (Jamie Foxx), who, in 1987, was sentenced to die for the notorious murder of an 18-year-old girl, despite a preponderance of evidence proving his innocence and the fact that the only testimony against him came from a criminal with a motive to lie. In the years that follow, Bryan becomes embroiled in a labyrinth of legal and political maneuverings and overt and unabashed racism as he fights for Walter, and others like him, with the odds—and the system—stacked against them.”

Just Mercy – based on the book by Bryan Stevenson – is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and also stars Rob Morgan, Tim Blake Nelson, Rafe Spall, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Karan Kendrick.

The film arrives in select theaters on December 25 and everywhere on January 10.

Chris Evans hits the red carpet at the Entertainment Weekly’s Must List Party on Saturday afternoon (September 7) at the Thompson Hotel in Toronto, Canada.

The 38-year-old actor hung out with fellow actors Robert Pattinson and Michael B. Jordan at the party held during the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival.

The actors, who are both Marvel stars, were joined by co-stars Jamie Foxx, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Tim Blake Nelson, Rob Morgan, and Karan Kendrick, as well as director Destin Daniel Cretton.

At the premiere the night before, Michael and Brie talked about getting to play real-life superheroes in the film based on the true story of lawyer Bryan Stevenson.

“These are real-life superheroes,” MBJ told the crowd (via EW). “For me, this was very intimidating at first. After I got a chance to get to know [Stevenson] and his work, I felt like I had a great deal of pressure to get it right. I felt honored to be able to carry that weight and to be able to go to set every day and try to make a difference, and try to be a part of that change.”

Brie added, “I would go into the drudges for [Cretton] any time. But, really, the question was: Does Michael want me there? Because my only role in this was to support. This is the true definition of supporting role. I just wanted to be there for him, and to be given the opportunity to hold space for him was one of the most incredible experiences of my working life. We shared moments that mean so much to me, and this story is so powerful; Bryan’s voice is so powerful. Every day was a treat.”
