Oprah Winfrey is returning to the big screen!

The 66-year-old entrepreneur will be making her return to the acting world in Between the World & Me, Deadline reported Thursday (August 13).

Angela Bassett, Alicia Garza, Joe Morton, Phylicia Rashad, Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, Courtney B. Vance, Pauletta Washington and Susan Kelechi Watson are also set to star in HBO’s adaptation of the stage show, which is based on Ta-Nehisi Coates’ New York Times bestseller.

Here’s more about the production: “Originally adapted and staged by the Apollo Theater in 2018, the special will combine elements of that production, including readings from Coates’ book, and will once again be directed by award-winning director and Apollo Theater Executive Producer Kamilah Forbes. It will also incorporate documentary footage from the actors’ home life, archival footage, and animation.”

“The book, which was first published in 2015 by One World, is written as a letter to Coates’ teenage son and recounts the author’s experiences growing up in Baltimore’s inner city and his growing fear of daily violence against the Black community. The narrative explores Coates’ notion that American society structurally supports white supremacy.”

The special is currently in production under COVID-19 guidelines, and will debut this fall on HBO and HBO Max.

Denzel Washington is joined by family members while walking the carpet at the 2019 AFI Life Achievement Award event honoring him on Thursday (June 6) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The 64-year-old two-time Oscar-winning actor posed on the red carpet with his wife Pauletta Washington and two of their four kids – Malcolm, 28, and Katia, 31.

Denzel recently opened up about how his life has changed as he reaches the “fourth quarter” of his career.

“You start to cut the fat. You live a simpler life. When I turned 60, I looked in the mirror and said, ‘This is it.’ And so I want to hone my mind, body and spirit and be the best me I can,” Denzel told THR. “When I turned 60, I had my last glass of wine, haven’t had any since. I just said, ‘You know, I don’t have days to be hung over.’ There’s 365 days in a year, and how many days do you want to waste?”

Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson couple up on the red carpet at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 7) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 61-year-old actor looked handsome in a black tux while his wife – also 61 – went went pretty in a black dress covered in a firework design.

Also stepping out for the event were Denzel Washington and his wife Pauletta along with Gary Oldman and wife Gisele Schmidt.

All three actors are nominated tonight for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.

Denzel Washington brought his lovely wife Pauletta to the 2017 Academy Awards!

The 62-year-old actor is nominated tonight in the Best Actor category for his work in Fences. The show is being held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (February 26) in Hollywood.

Viola Davis stuns as she hits the red carpet at the premiere of her new film Fences on Monday night (December 19) at the Rose Theater in Lincoln Center in New York City.

The 51-year-old actress was joined on the red carpet by her husband Julius Tennon along with her director and co-star Denzel Washington who was accompanied by his wife Pauletta.

Also in attendance at the premiere were Olympian Gabby Douglas, Usher, and their onscreen son Jovan Adepo.

It was recently announced that both Viola and Denzel were nominated for Golden Globes Awards for the roles in the film.
