Phylicia Rashad must have known she was going to get a lot of backlash when tweeting this statement.

The 73-year-old actress, who played Cosby’s sitcom wife, Clair Huxtable, for all eight seasons of The Cosby Show, sent out a tweet after news broke that he would be released from prison following his sexual assault conviction being overturned.

Netflix is kicking off the holiday season early this year!

The streaming site just released the trailer for their upcoming holiday movie Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey starring Forest Whitaker.

Here’s the official synopsis from Netflix: “A musical adventure and a visual spectacle for the ages, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey is a wholly fresh and spirited family holiday event. Set in the gloriously vibrant town of Cobbleton, the film follows legendary toymaker Jeronicus Jangle (Whitaker) whose fanciful inventions burst with whimsy and wonder. But when his trusted apprentice (Keegan-Michael Key) steals his most prized creation, it’s up to his equally bright and inventive granddaughter (Madalen Mills) — and a long-forgotten invention — to heal old wounds and reawaken the magic within.”

The movie also stars Phylicia Rashad and Anika Noni Rose.

It was recently revealed that this country star also has a Christmas movie coming to Netflix this year!

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey will be released on Netflix on November 13.

Oprah Winfrey is returning to the big screen!

The 66-year-old entrepreneur will be making her return to the acting world in Between the World & Me, Deadline reported Thursday (August 13).

Angela Bassett, Alicia Garza, Joe Morton, Phylicia Rashad, Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, Courtney B. Vance, Pauletta Washington and Susan Kelechi Watson are also set to star in HBO’s adaptation of the stage show, which is based on Ta-Nehisi CoatesNew York Times bestseller.

Here’s more about the production: “Originally adapted and staged by the Apollo Theater in 2018, the special will combine elements of that production, including readings from Coates’ book, and will once again be directed by award-winning director and Apollo Theater Executive Producer Kamilah Forbes. It will also incorporate documentary footage from the actors’ home life, archival footage, and animation.”

“The book, which was first published in 2015 by One World, is written as a letter to Coates’ teenage son and recounts the author’s experiences growing up in Baltimore’s inner city and his growing fear of daily violence against the Black community. The narrative explores Coates’ notion that American society structurally supports white supremacy.”

The special is currently in production under COVID-19 guidelines, and will debut this fall on HBO and HBO Max.

The upcoming movie hits theaters in the United States on June 19, and a new trailer and posted debuted on Thursday (March 12).

Here’s a plot summary: Joe Gardner is a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town. But one small misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to The Great Before – a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth. Determined to return to his life, Joe teams up with a precocious soul, 22, who has never understood the appeal of the human experience. As Joe desperately tries to show 22 what’s great about living, he may just discover the answers to some of life’s most important questions.

The movie features the voices of Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Phylicia Rashad, Angela Bassett, Questlove and Daveed Diggs.

Billy Porter, Tony Shalhoub & More Step Out To Support 'A Soldier's Play' Broadway Opening!

Billy Porter keeps it chic as he strikes a pose on the red carpet at the opening night for A Soldier’s Play held at the American Airlines Theater on Tuesday (January 21) in New York City.

The 50-year-old Pose star was joined at the event by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s Tony Shalhoub and his wife Brooke Adams, Weeds star Mary Louise Parker and her son William Parker, Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie, Kate Walsh, Sunny Hostin, Phylicia Rashad and Cicely Tyson as they all stepped out to show their support.

Also in attendance were the cast of the play David Alan Grier, Blair Underwood, Nnamdi Asomugha, Jerry O’Connell, McKinley Belcher III, Rob Demery, Jared Grimes, Billy Eugene Jones, Nate Mann, Warner Miller, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Lee Aaron Rosen.

A Soldier’s Play follows an officer’s race against his white leadership to unravel the crime of a black sergeant’s murder. A hair-raising mystery set in 1944, the play is seen on Broadway for the first time.

Phylicia Rashad, Ahmir Questlove Thompson and Daveed Diggs also lend their voices to the film, in theaters on June 19, 2020.
