Pierce Brosnan Reveals How He Feels Today About Being Replaced as James Bond

In 2004, Pierce Brosnan was told that he would no longer be playing James Bond and the franchise would be looking for a new leading man.

At the time, Pierce, who starred in four Bond movies, said he was “utterly shocked and just kicked to the curb with the way it went down.”

Now, he has a different view of what happened.

“There’s no regret,” he told The Telegraph. “I do not let regret come into my world … It just leads to more misery and more regrets.”

“Bond is the gift that keeps giving and has allowed me to have a wonderful career. Once you’re branded as a Bond, it’s with you for ever, so you better make peace with it and you’d better understand that when you walk through those doors and pick up the mantle of playing James Bond,” he continued.

Daniel Craig eventually took over the role. Daniel himself made some shocking comments about playing Bond at one point, before eventually signing on for more movies.

Pierce has been isolating in his family’s cottage on Kauai, Hawaii with his wife Keely amid the global health crisis following the shutdown of his current project, Disney’s Cinderella.

“I was on a plane the next day. I was told I might not get out, and I wanted to be with my family,” he said.

“I lost two friends to COVID-19. They were friends of 45 years, and I am godfather to his son. No matter where you are and how beautiful it may be, you still have this awful threat to life looming. You have to keep pushing the rock uphill, and you have to keep involved in life. We are at war. People are dying. Hopefully after all this, there will be more kindness and more awareness of the fragility of our planet,” he went on to reveal.

We have tragically lost several stars already due to coronavirus.
