HBO Max has announced casting for the leading roles of the upcoming Pretty Little Liars reboot series.

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, the third series in the franchise, will take place 20 years ago and it was created by Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring.

Here’s the synopsis: “Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago…as well as their own. In the dark, coming-of-age, horror-tinged drama Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, we find ourselves miles away from Rosewood, but within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe — in a brand-new town, with a new generation of Little Liars.”

Lucy Hale is reacting to backlash.

The 31-year-old actress spoke out upon criticism of the Pretty Little Liars reboot in an interview with Us Weekly.

“I sincerely wish everyone the best and I hope it’s a huge success. Some people get angry about a reboot, but I think it’s important to be supportive of up-and-coming artists. I’m curious to see what they do with it!” she said.

Lucy starred in the original ABC Family-turned-Freeform drama from 2010 to 2017. The show also led to one-season spinoffs Ravenswood and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.

Pretty Little Liars is getting a reboot!

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina creator/showrunner, is set to run lead on a new version of the Freeform series, THR reported on Wednesday (September 2).

Roberto will reportedly write the script, which will feature new characters and a new storyline.

There is no network attached to the project at this time, but THR sources say that HBO Max is where they want it to go. If you didn’t know, Pretty Little Liars actually made the jump to HBO Max earlier this year as the series’ streaming home.

This would be the fourth iteration of Pretty Little Liars, following the first spinoff series Ravenswood, then Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.

We’re finally getting answers to one of Pretty Little Liars‘ biggest questions!

Earlier this week, cast members Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Sasha Pieterse, Janel Parrish, Ian Harding, and Tyler Blackburn had a virtual reunion with creator Marlene King.

During their reunion, Marlene finally addressed one of PLL‘s biggest unanswered questions: How did the moms get out of the basement?

“There’s a reason why Pam never drank after that,” Marlene explained via Entertainment Tonight Canada. “We decided they drew straws and Pam got the short straw, so she had to take off her clothes and they greased her up with some car oil they found, and she shimmied down some pipe and then let them out.”

Troian Bellisario and Shay Mitchell are both moms now and the daughters of the Pretty Little Liars co-stars have something in common… they both have “A” names.

If you’re a fan of the series, then you know why “A” is so significant, so it’s amusing to fans that both of the baby girls have names starting with that initial.

Troian and husband Patrick J. Adams named their daughter Aurora while Shay and boyfriend Matte Babel named their daughter Atlas.

“Well, it never crossed my mind until, like, an initial occurred. We were playing in our playroom and I just put A’s everywhere, and then I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve done it to myself!’” Troian told Teen Vogue about choosing her daughter’s name. “I have nobody to blame for this, and it’s so funny that a motif will crop up in your life totally unconsciously.”

Troian said that Aurora comes from Roman mythology, not the movie Sleeping Beauty.

“Now it’s really funny, because I didn’t tell [Patrick] that Aurora… he didn’t know that Aurora was a Disney princess’s name. I didn’t even think of it, honestly. ‘Cause I was thinking about it in terms of the historical context. So many people now are like, ‘Oh, like a Disney princess?’ And I feel like Patrick‘s like, ‘Ugh,’” she said.

Troian also opened up about Shay‘s daughter having an “A” name.

“Oh, that’s so funny. No, that is a name that she told me she’s had since she was young, so way before Pretty Little Liars. It just happened that we want our children to go with the first of the class and everything, I guess,” she said.

Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists has been cancelled by Freeform after one season.

The Pretty Little Liars spinoff was only on the air for one season, after the original series ran from 2010 to 2017.

The new show which featured PLL stars Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish, followed three college friends, who struggled with the stress of being overachievers in the picturesque town of Beacon Heights on top of trying to solve the murder of Nolan Hotchkiss.

The Perfectionists also starred Sofia Carson, Sydney Park, Eli Brown, Hayley Erin, Graeme Thomas King and Kelly Rutherford.

The show finished its 10 episode run on May 22nd.

Lucy Hale has revealed that she had a crush on her co-star Drew Van Acker during their days on Pretty Little Liars!

The 28-year-old actress and singer recently tweeted that her song “Lie a Little Better” is about Drew, but then she deleted the tweet.

The other day, Lucy opened up to ET about why she revealed the crush.

“For years, people had asked me what that song was about or who it was about and I was like, ‘I should just tell them,’ and then I was like, ‘No, I should just tease people for a little bit,’” she shared.

“Then, finally the other week, it came on my shuffle, and I was like, ‘Yeah, this song is about Drew.’”

Lucy added that Drew didn’t know about her crush then, but “he sure does now, but he’s, like, happily with someone. It’s all done with, but now the world knows. Drew Van Acker. He’s a cutie.”
