Princess Beatrice Gets Two New Royal Titles After Wedding To Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi

Princess Beatrice has gotten not just one, but two new royal titles after her lowkey wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

The 31-year-old royal was previously styled as Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York.

However, after marrying Edoardo, Beatrice will now be styled as Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice, Mrs. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

The reason for the drop of York is because of the reference to her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the Duke and Duchess of York. Beatrice‘s sister, Eugenie, also has a similar title: Princess Eugenie, Mrs. Jack Brooksbank.

On top of her new English royal title, Beatrice is now also a Contessa, or Donna Nobile.

Since Edoardo descends from Italian aristocracy, this means that Beatrice inherits the Italian titles as well.

Edoardo’s father is Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, and as his oldest son, Edoardo will inherit the family’s ancestral seat, the 18th-century Villa Mapelli Mozzi palace in northern Italy.

“Edoardo is the only male descendent taking the family into the next generation,” Alessandro once shared. “He is a count — his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna.”

If you missed it, Beatrice almost had an entirely different name!

Princess Beatrice Was Actually Supposed To Be Named This

Princess Beatrice could have been Princess Annabel!

The 31-year-old Princess of York’s original name was actually rejected by her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, according to reports.

It took two weeks for her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, to announce her name to the public after the Queen pushed back on their chosen name for their first-born.

According to The Sun (via), while Annabel was the first pick for Beatrice, the Queen pushed back on it because she thought it was too “yuppie” and not elegant enough for a granddaughter of the monarch.

If you don’t know, the Queen has the final say on royal baby names and is consulted on them when welcoming new royal arrivals.

Beatrice‘s full name is Beatrice Elizabeth Mary, Princess of York. Her middle names are in honor of her grandmother, and great-grandmother.
