Ratched debuted on Netflix on September 18 and now the streaming service has revealed how many people watched the series in its first four weeks of streaming.

Netflix says that 48 million members watched the new Ryan Murphy series, which stars Sarah Paulson as the titular Nurse Ratched.

The show has claimed the biggest original season one of the year!

“In its first 28 days, 48 million members have booked an appointment with Nurse Ratched, making it our biggest original Season 1 of the year,” Netflix tweeted on Friday (October 16).

Netflix is very secretive when it comes to how many people watched their shows, but in the last couple years, the streamer has been open about sharing the numbers for successful shows.

After the show premiered, Sarah explained to fans how to pronounce the name “Ratched” because it’s not pronounced the way it appears.

Sarah Paulson has revealed that “Ratched” isn’t pronounced the way that it looks!

The Emmy-winning actress’ new series Ratched, which was inspired by the iconic character of Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. The new series is Ryan Murphy‘s latest offering for Netflix as part of his overall deal with the streaming service.

In an Instagram video that Sarah filmed for Ryan‘s page, she talked about how you say the name.

“Today is Ratched premiere day. ‘Ratchet.’ Ratched. ‘Ratchet.’ Ratched. ‘Ratchet.’ How would you say it? She says Mildred ‘Ratchet.’ I don’t say Mildred Ratched, even though that’s really how it’s spelled,” she said.

So, it seems you pronounce Ratched by saying “ratch-it.”

Here is the synopsis for the series: “In 1947, Mildred arrives in Northern California to seek employment at a leading psychiatric hospital where new and unsettling experiments have begun on the human mind. On a clandestine mission, Mildred presents herself as the perfect image of what a dedicated nurse should be, but the wheels are always turning and as she begins to infiltrate the mental health care system and those within it, Mildred’s stylish exterior belies a growing darkness that has long been smoldering within, revealing that true monsters are made, not born.”

The show is a prequel of sorts to the iconic One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest villainess.

Here’s a synopsis: Ratched is a suspenseful drama series that tells the origin story of asylum nurse Mildred Ratched. In 1947, Mildred arrives in Northern California to seek employment at a leading psychiatric hospital where new and unsettling experiments have begun on the human mind. On a clandestine mission, Mildred presents herself as the perfect image of what a dedicated nurse should be, but the wheels are always turning and as she begins to infiltrate the mental health care system and those within it, Mildred’s stylish exterior belies a growing darkness that has long been smoldering within, revealing that true monsters are made, not born.

The cast also includes Cynthia Nixon as Gwendolyn Briggs, Judy Davis as Nurse Betsy Bucket, Sharon Stone as Lenore Osgood, Jon Jon Briones as Dr. Richard Hanover, Finn Wittrock as Edmund Tolleson, Charlie Carver as Huck, Alice Englert as Dolly, Amanda Plummer as Louise, Corey Stoll as Charles Wainwright, Sophie Okonedo as Charlotte and Vincent D’Onofrio as Gov. George Wilburn.

All eight episodes will premiere on Netflix on September 18.

The upcoming series, co-produced by Sarah and Ryan Murphy, is set to debut in 2020 and follows a young nurse at a mental institution who becomes jaded, bitter and a downright monster to her patients.

Rosanna Arquette, Cynthia Nixon, and Sharon Stone will also star in Ratched.

Ryan Murphy‘s next show is Ratched, starring Sarah Paulson, and he just announced 10 more actors joining the star-studded cast!

The series is a prequel to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest starring Sarah as Nurse Ratched. The upcoming Netflix series already has a two-season order.

“Ratched on Netflix starts shooting in a couple weeks. On behalf of myself and Ms. Sarah Catharine Paulson who plays the title role and is also a big fancy producer on it, we are thrilled to announce our amazing cast…a true murderers’ row of talent. So many of these actors are supremely talented folks who Sarah and I have both longed to work with,” Ryan wrote on Instagram.

“The Ratched Principal Players, in alphabetical order: Jon Jon Briones, Charlie Carver, Judy Davis, Harriet Harris, Cynthia Nixon, Hunter Parrish, Amanda Plummer, Corey Stoll, Sharon Stone, and Finn Witrock. More to come, but come on…Sarah, Cynthia, Judy, Amanda and Sharon, all doing scenes together? I cannot WAIT,” he said.
