Riz Ahmed made his first official red carpet appearance with his new wife Fatima Farheen Mirza!

The 38-year-old Sound of Metal star and Fatima, a best selling author, hit the red carpet together at the 2021 Academy Awards on Sunday (April 25) at Union Station in Los Angeles.

The couple even shared a cute moment on the red carpet with Riz fixing Fatima‘s hair for photos. See the moment below!

Riz and Fatima tied the knot during quarantine and the actor just recently revealed the news in an interview.

He’s up for the Best Actor honor at tonight’s show for The Sound of Metal.

Riz Ahmed has unveiled the identity of his new wife – Fatima Farheen Mirza!

The 38-year-old Venom actor revealed the big news that he had gotten secretly married in a recent interview on Louis Theroux‘s Grounded podcast.

Riz shared that the marriage was very new to him and he and Fatima tied the knot “not very long [ago], actually. It’s the first time I’ve ever mentioned it in an interview. So, congratulations on this incredibly exciting scoop.”

While he didn’t reveal her name on the podcast, Riz did open up about her identity on The Tonight Show.

“It’s a weird one, isn’t it?” he shared on the program. “I guess because we live in a social media age, if you don’t get on the megaphone about stuff, it’s like it’s a secret? But I never know how much is oversharing.”

Riz did share how he and Fatima met.

“We just both sat down at the same table in a café, where we both turned up to write,” he remembered. “We were both jostling over the same laptop plug points, like a very modern way of meeting. And we struck up a friendship, and then we reconnected down the line. But it’s weirdly one of the many things about preparing for this role that was so special. It just brought a lot of goodness into my life.”

Riz Ahmed is married!

The 38-year-old Venom star revealed that he is actually married during an appearance on Louis Theroux‘s Grounded podcast on Monday (January 11).

Riz explained during his appearance that he chose to stay in California after shooting a film there in late 2020 because his “wife’s family” is from the Bay Area. The host noted his mention of a wife, and that he “didn’t realize” the actor wasn’t single.

“Not very long, actually. It’s the first time I’ve ever mentioned it in an interview. So, congratulations on this incredibly exciting scoop,” he quickly explained.

“I mean, I guess I don’t really feel it’s generally that relevant, so I don’t delve into my personal life or my dating history or even family life much,” he added.

He said “the main reason” he spoke on private life more recently is because he thought people weren’t taking the coronavirus pandemic seriously. He also had two relatives die from the virus in 2020.

“I felt like talking about it and saying, ‘Hey, look, this is a real thing. It’s affected me and my family,” he explained, adding that he didn’t think it’s “necessary” for fans to know everything about him.

“If I was quite a private person, I wouldn’t be doing a podcast with you being like, ‘Hey, check out these films.’ ‘I’m on Twitter.’ I guess it’s just about having boundaries.” He did not disclose his wife’s name, however.

The trailer for Riz Ahmed‘s new movie has been released.

The 37-year-old actor plays a rocker battling hearing loss in the new movie Sound of Metal, directed by Darius Marder.

Here’s the official synopsis released by Amazon: “During a series of adrenaline-fueled one-night gigs, itinerant punk-metal drummer Ruben (Ahmed) begins to experience intermittent hearing loss. When a specialist tells him his condition will rapidly worsen, he thinks his music career — and with it his life — is over. His bandmate and girlfriend Lou (Olivia Cooke) checks the recovering heroin addict into a secluded sober house for the deaf in hopes it will prevent a relapse and help him learn to adapt to his new situation. But after being welcomed into a community that accepts him just as he is, Ruben has to choose between his equilibrium and the drive to reclaim the life he once knew.”

The cast also includes Paul Raci, Lauren Ridloff, Shaheem Sanchez, Chelsea Lee, Jeremy Lee Stone, and Mathieu Amalric.

Riz Ahmed and Octavia Spencer will star in a new film!

The two actors have been cast in Invasion, a sci-fi thriller from BAFTA-winning UK filmmaker Michael Pearce, Deadline confirmed on Wednesday (July 29).

“I can also reveal that Amazon Studios has taken worldwide rights to the project and will produce alongside American Animals outfit Raw and UK funder Film4, which backed development,” the outlet reported.

Here’s a plot summary: “It follows two young brothers who go on the run with their father, a decorated Marine, who is trying to protect them from an unhuman threat. As the journey takes them in increasingly dangerous and unexpected directions, the boys will need to confront hard truths and leave their childhood behind. Ahmed is playing the Marine while Spencer is a probation officer who helps to bring him home. The film is aiming to shoot in the States this year.”

Octavia Spencer recently got some exciting news!

Riz Ahmed, who has starred in HBO’s The Night Of and the recent movie Venom, has revealed that two of his family members have passed away from COVID-19 aka the Coronavirus.

“I have lost two family members to COVID. I just want to believe their deaths and all the others aren’t for nothing. We gotta step up to reimagine a better future,” he told GQ Hype. He did not specify which family members have passed away.

“Trump is using it as an excuse to try to ban immigration and the Hungarian government is centralizing power off the back of this,” he said. “I’m seeing reports of India, where the government are calling it “corona-jihad” and they’re trying to blame it on the spread of Muslims and they are segregating hospitals between Muslims and non-Muslims.”
