Rupert Grint Admits He Was Absolutely 'Terrified' In His First Days As A Father

Rupert Grint is opening up about his first days of fatherhood.

The 32-year-old former Harry Potter star welcomed his first child, a daughter named Wednesday, with wife Georgia Groome, late last year.

In an interview with Esquire, Rupert revealed that that in his first days as a dad he got almost no sleep.

“I don’t want to go too into detail, but the first night was just terrifying,” he admitted. “You can’t sleep at all, just constantly checking that she’s breathing.”

Rupert added that “sleeping, in general, for me, is something I’ve really struggled with. I think as a kid, people always said, ‘They died in their sleep,’ so I always thought sleep was a really dangerous, dangerous thing.”

In another recent interview, Rupert gushed over Wednesday.

The baby was actually the reason he joined Instagram in the first place!

Rupert Grint Reveals Why He Spoke Out In Support of the Transgender Community After JK Rowling's Comments

Rupert Grint is opening up about his comments following JK Rowling‘s own comments towards the transgender community.

During an interview with Esquire, the 32-year-old actor revealed why he felt he was called to say something instead of remaining silent.

“I am hugely grateful [for] everything that she’s done. I think that she’s extremely talented, and I mean, clearly, her works are genius,” he first says. “But yeah, I think also you can have huge respect for someone and still disagree with things like that.”

Rupert added that not saying anything wasn’t an option for him.

“Sometimes silence is even louder,” he admits. “I felt like I had to because I think it was important to. I mean, I don’t want to talk about all that…Generally, I’m not an authority on the subject,” he collects himself again. “Just out of kindness, and just respecting people. I think it’s a valuable group that I think needs standing up for.”

Rupert was one of the many Harry Potter stars who did speak out following her comments, joining Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, and just recently, Ralph Fiennes, who played Voldemort in the franchise.

Rupert Grint Makes Surprise Cameo in Saleka Night Shyamalan's 'The Sky Cries' Music Video - Watch Now!

Philadelphia singer-songwriter Saleka Night Shyamalan is back with another visual masterpiece–this music video called “The Sky Cries”–directed by her father, M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense).

“I was very intimidated and nervous leading up to the shoot because there were a lot of physical logistics with the choreography,” Saleka shared with Just Jared. “I’ve never been directed by my dad before, but once we were on set it actually felt really natural. He always emphasizes the emotional intention over everything. Since I wrote the song, we were able to easily talk about the meaning of each line, how it connects to the movement and contributes to the arc of the overall video.”

Harry Potter star Rupert Grint makes a brief cameo at the end of the video. What’s the connection? He stars in the Apple TV+ series Servant, which is executive produced by M. Night. The song is also featured in episode 8 of the hit show, out now. Watch the video below!

And in case you missed it, watch Saleka‘s soulful “Mr. Incredible” music video!

Rupert Grint Has One Big Regret About His 'Harry Potter' Days & It Will Surprise You

Rupert Grint is opening up about his time in the Harry Potter franchise and admitted that he does have some regrets.

The 32-year-old actor and new dad spoke with Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast and revealed that there was an awkward stage he went through while filming the eight movies.

“There were some awkward stages, for sure. My hair in film four is one of my biggest regrets. Shoulder length,” he joked, adding that “I think everyone actually had a phase of having this really long hair.”

He says about the fan reaction to the length: “They liked it – it was kind of wizardy. We went through our puberty on camera. You kind of see it all. It is very cringey.”

Later on in the same interview, Rupert did say that there was also “a time where it felt quite suffocating, because it was heavy going, because it was every day for 10 years in the end.”

“It just never ended,” he shared. “Every year, we came back. And it was kind of like Groundhog Day because it was the same sets. Sometimes it definitely felt like, ‘I want to do something else. See what else is out there’.”

Overall though, “It was a great experience. Such a nice kind of family atmosphere. It was always the same crew we kind of grew up with, so it was a great place to be.”

Earlier this week, Katie Leung, who played Cho, revealed the racism she faced while starring in the franchise.

The actor, who played Ron Weasley in the series, revealed he hasn’t actually watched most of them.

“I’ve probably seen the first three at the premieres, but after that I stopped watching them,” he revealed.

“But now that I have a daughter [Grint’s wife, actor Georgia Groome, gave birth to baby Wednesday in May], I will probably have to watch them with her.”

He also spoke about the reported live action Harry Potter series being developed by HBO Max.

“It’ll be weird if it was a continuation kind of thing. I weirdly feel quite protective of that character. Even when I saw the stage shows, it was a very strange experience. … If it’s like a different group of friends, I guess it would be interesting,” he said.

He also opened up about what makes his relationship work in a rare conversation about his personal life.

Rupert Grint Reveals What Makes His Relationship Work With Wife Georgia Groome in Rare Interview

Rupert Grint is making some rare comments about his relationship with wife Georgia Groome.

While speaking to Glamour magazine about his new series, Servant, the 32-year-old Harry Potter alum opened up about what makes his relationship work with Georgia.

“It’s a very natural thing,” he shared. “We’re just best friends. We’re kind of the same person; we think the same way.”

Rupert added that them being on the same wavelength is the key “that’s always made it work—that’s why it’s lasted. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is, but it works and it’s great.”

He also chatted about going through quarantine with Georgia, and their new daughter, Wednesday.

“It’s been tough,” he admits. “It’s a time when you want as much support as you can get from your family and your friends; it’s a very isolating thing, this lockdown, so we really have kind of been on our own. But there’s positives with that.”

Rupert continued, “It’s been great to work everything out for ourselves, without so many opinions. We’ve really bonded with Wednesday. It’s been intense, but great.”

In a separate interview, Rupert gushed about his baby daughter, who he and Georgia welcomed in May.

Rupert Grint Gushes About Daughter Wednesday in Rare Interview!

Rupert Grint is opening up about life as a dad!

While promoting the upcoming second season of his Apple TV+ series Servant, the 32-year-old actor gushed about being a dad to newborn daughter Wednesday.

“It was something I never really had much of an idea of, that kind of love. It’s a very different love,” Rupert shared with Comicbook.com.

News broke back in April that Rupert and girlfriend Georgia Groome were expecting their first child together. The couple welcomed daughter Wednesday in May, and Rupert shared the first photo with his daughter back in November.

Also in his interview, Rupert said that becoming a dad was able to help him “get into the headspace” of the characters on Servant.

“The grief, what it means to lose a child, is kind of unimaginable and kind of hones in on that you would do anything to get your child back,” Rupert explained. “So yeah, it’s definitely helped in some ways.”

He also joked that Servant is “the worst show to be part of if you’ve just become a parent.”

Rupert added, “Because we filmed this season in kind of two halves really, because of the [coronavirus] pandemic — I had the baby during the kind of down period when we were in lockdown and came back with the baby for the for the second part. It’s very strange.”

Season two of Servant will debut on Apple TV+ on Friday, January 15. Watch the trailer here!
