Well, Ryan issued an apology for these controversial comments, saying, “I do not condone the use of the N-word by any non-Black person. That includes all Latinos. That’s not our word.”

“I came from an angry place. I couldn’t think straight, and I misspoke,” he said about his use of the word “slurs,” and apparently meant to say “stereotypes,” saying that “amongst friends, can friends make fun of each other? Yes.” But he added, “I’m not here to bring anybody down.”

“I apologize to those that I have offended and misrepresented myself by using the wrong term… I will continue to grow, and continue to help out the community,” he added.

9-1-1's Oliver Stark Responds to Co-Star Ryan Guzman's Statements About Using Racial Slurs

9-1-1 actor Oliver Stark is commenting on what his co-star Ryan Guzman said about using racial slurs.

If you missed it, Ryan and his fiancée, Brazilian actress and model Chrysti Ane, went on Instagram Live after she apologized for posting tweets back in 2011 that used a derogatory term. If you don’t know, Ryan and Chrysti have been together for years and have one child together.

During the Live, Ryan said that he and his friends “call each other slurs all the time.”

“I have plenty of friends — Black, white, Asian, Indian, whatever they are, Korean — and we make fun of each other’s races all the time. We call each other slurs all the time,” he continued. “We don’t get butthurt at all because we know the actual person, we know who each other are. We know that we’re not trying to bring each other down. So, what are y’all trying to get at? You’re trying to prove that somebody that’s not racist is racist? Nah. You don’t have that power. There is no racist energy coming from this household at all.”

All of this came about while protests are erupting across the United States after the murder of George Floyd at the hands of police officer Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis.
