Ryan Murphy Explains Why 'The Politician' Season 3 Likely Won't Happen for Several Years

Season two of The Politician just premiered on Netflix, but fans will likely be waiting a long time for the third (and possibly final) season of the series.

The show’s co-creator Ryan Murphy has explained why he won’t move forward with a third season for several years.

“I think for me, for that show, I would like to do, and I think all of us involved in it, would probably like to do three seasons total,” Ryan told Collider. “And I think where season two ends, what I would love to do is take a couple of years off and have Ben Platt get a little bit older for his final race. That would obviously be a presidential race, right? That’s always what we had designed, and I think that’s what our plan is. I’m going to wait. Ben is young, so I want to wait a couple of years to figure out how we age him up a little bit. But that’s always been my plan.”

Ryan Murphy Quietly Announced He & Husband David Miller Are Expecting Their Third Baby

Ryan Murphy and David Miller are celebrating some happy news – they’re expecting their third child together!

The American Horror Story creator slipped in the news in a story he penned for Architectural Digest.

The article gave a look inside Ryan and David‘s home that they share with their two sons, Logan and Ford.

“We are expecting another baby, a boy, in August,” Ryan wrote at the end.

In the article, Ryan also opened up about how starting a family changed what he envisioned for his homes: “With family life came more color (children’s toys are never tasteful beige) and more collections and just … more.”

“My career took off right around the time we had Logan, in 2012, and I went from one or two shows to sometimes 12. Those shows, too, were often colorful and baroque. One day, it suddenly dawned on me that I wanted to live with less: less color, less clutter, fewer things. An edited life.”

Congrats to Ryan and David!

“Imagine it’s 2009, and I lived in a world where I knew Lea Michele, Ben Platt and Beanie Feldstein (Ben and Beanie, I believe, were in high school then…and I think they dressed up as Glee characters once for Halloween?),” he wrote.

“If I had access to that talent, here’s the new pilot: Lea and Ben are frenemies who fight for the heart and soul of Glee Club. Ben is also on the football team, and pretty much sleeps with the entire school and is the heartthrob of McKinley. Beanie is their mutual best friend, and torn. Suddenly, Beanie joins forces with Sue Sylvester, joins Glee Club and becomes the main soloist and the ruthless star of the club. Lea and Ben have to then join forces to dethrone her. I WANT TO SHOOT THIS DO OVER PILOT. Maybe I will?” he went on to say.

Ryan Murphy Says The 'American Horror Story' Theme Could Change Because of This

Ryan Murphy is opening up about how the theme of the new season of American Horror Story could change because of the pandemic.

Speaking with The Wrap, the showrunner and filmmaker revealed that “a lot of what I was going to shoot was dependent on a very specific moment, it was a weather-dependent show.”
