The New York Times published an oral history of the cult comedy, which is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this week, on Thursday (July 8).

Selma Blair has revealed some interesting info about what happened when her business manager tried to set her up with Justin Long years ago!
The revelation happened after Justin recreated Selma‘s role in Cruel Intentions for the latest entry in actress Sarah Ramos‘ Quarantscenes series.
Justin shared the funny video on his Instagram page and Selma left a comment on the post. Based on what she said, it seems like he turned down the chance at dating her.

For the past year, Parenthood actress Sarah Ramos has been entertaining us with her Quarantscenes, where she acts out scenes from iconic film and TV series.
Sarah‘s latest entry to her comedic video series might be her best one yet. She recruited Justin Long to recreate a scene from the movie Cruel Intentions!
In the funny new video, Sarah plays Sarah Michelle Gellar‘s Kathryn Merteuil while Justin plays Selma Blair‘s Cecile Caldwell. The scene is the one where Kathryn advises Cecile to sleep with as many people as possible.
Justin wrote on his page, “Sarah started doing these brilliant homage videos at the start of the quarantine that I really fell in love with. Long before I became a big @saraheramos fan, I was a fan of Cruel Intentions and @selmablair – so getting to play Selma IN Cruel Intentions WITH Sarah was the most fun way to pay tribute to these funny + talented ladies. It also gave me a newfound appreciation for just HOW great Selma is in that movie (and how monstrous I look in comparison to her pretty face 😬).”
Selma reacted to the video on Justin‘s Instagram post by saying, “I am laughing and I love you and I see why you never would date me despite my business managers set up attempts years ago 😂. This makes up for it. Thank you dear Justin. Great work. 💋💋💋.”

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair are locking lips again – well, at least they’re trying to.
The two actress and longtime BFFs were honored with the Legendary Lip Lock award at the 2020 MTV Movie & TV Awards: Greatest of All Time on Sunday night (December 6).
Sarah and Selma won the Best Kiss award at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards for their iconic kiss in the 1999 movie Cruel Intentions.
During the G.O.A.T. special, Sarah and Selma chatted about that kiss from more than 20 years ago and why it’s still such a big moment in movie history.
“I think the reason the kiss has resonated with people for so long is not just for the initial shock value but because it was a catalyst for so many young people to help them realize certain aspects of their sexuality and help make people comfortable to be who they really are,” Selma said as she and Sarah sit outside at a patio table together.
Sarah responded, “It also represented a paradigm shift to a new dynamic towards acceptance in pop culture. Also, it was super hot.”
“So as a special thanks,” Selma said. “We’d like to recreate it.”
She and Sarah then leaned in for a kiss, but right before locking lips, they were stopped by a piece of plexiglass between them – keeping them safely separated amid the ongoing health pandemic!
“Stay safe, MTV,” Sarah said. “And, 2020: end soon.”
Reese Witherspoon was back in action with her Legally Blonde cast mates during a fun reunion event that premiered today (October 20).
Selma Blair, Luke Wilson, Ali Larter, Jennifer Coolidge, Holland Taylor, Jessica Cauffiel, Alanna Ubach and even Matthew Davis all joined in on the call, with SNL‘s Chloe Fineman moderating.
As the reunion started, Reese reflected on how important the movie was for her.
“I think she just inspired people to believe in themselves,” she shared. “She’s inspired me to really keep an open mind and always be an advocate for myself and for other people in this world…We decided after almost 20 years it was time to have a reunion because we love each other and we wanted to share the joy we had making this film.”
After the reunion, MGM also announced that Legally Blonde 3, written by Mindy Kaling, will be coming in 2022!

The 48-year-old Cruel Intentions actress took to Instagram later that day to post a moving message about the death of actor Nick Cordero, who died after spending over 90 days in the hospital following a battle with coronavirus.
“@nickcordero1 passed today after courageously fighting the ravages of COVID-19. There has not been a day where he has not entered my prayers. Because of the love and saint like enthusiasm @amandakloots has given to their love and his hopes of recovery. They were madly in love. With a one year old son, Elvis. Because of Amanda, my heart has grown, as so many have been moved by witnessing her heroic faith and love,” Selma said. “Their bond has changed my life. Amanda has changed so many lives. With her soul, laid bare. The love and energy are ferocious around this family.”
“I am sure moving forward will be stupefied by grief. At times. And celebration of what they created as a family. If possible, please donate what you can in support. I am sure medical bills and mortgage and life and dreams for their son, are even more overwhelming in this grief. There is a go fund me in my bio where so many open and generous hearts have given. Supporting Amanda in this time would be a blessing. We love you Amanda, Nick and Elvis. And family. I hold you as my own should you ever need anything from me. Bless this journey. Rest In Peace Nick. You gave a hell of a fight to ‘live your life,’” she concluded.
