Daveed Diggs is hanging out with the Sesame Street gang!

The 39-year-old Hamilton, Snowpiercer, and Blindspotting actor starred alongside Sesame Street characters in DoorDash’s new commercial airing during the 2021 Super Bowl on Sunday (February 7).

Sesame Street characters in the commercial include Big Bird, Grover, and Cookie Monster among others.

In the commercial, Daveed and the Sesame Street gang show just how easy and convenient it is for people to use and order food from the food delivery service while also encouraging people to order/shop local.

In a recent interview, Daveed gushed about working with all the people on set of Sesame Street, along with the people that control the characters.

“The performers are incredible. I remember sitting on the couch with Cookie Monster, and we’re between takes just having conversations, you know, just like actors talk to each other between takes, catching up on what each other was doing,” Daveed shared with People. You totally forget that [those characters] are animated.”

Elmo Talks About Racism in 'Sesame Street' & CNN Town Hall

Sesame Street and CNN are teaming up to help kids and parents learn about the Black Lives Matter movement.

Coming Together: Standing Up To Racism aired on Saturday morning (June 6) where Sesame Street characters Elmo, Abby Cadabby and Rosita discussed fighting racism and who to call when police officers are being unsafe.

As a three-year-old, Elmo doesn’t know to much about the way systemic racism works, which can be hard to understand why there are protests following George Floyd‘s death. Elmo‘s father, Louie, was able to help explain racism to his son.

“Racism is when people treat other people unfairly because of the way they look or the color of their skin,” Louie told Elmo. “Not all streets are like Sesame Street. On Sesame Street, we all love and respect on another. Across the country, people of color, especially in the black community, are being treated unfairly because of how they look, their culture, race and who they are.”

Elmo‘s dad has an important message for all the parents who are at home with young children during stay at home orders because of the coronavirus outbreak.

In a new PSA, Louie takes a moment to himself to record a special message for all parents out there.

“You know it’s wonderful to get to spend so much time with our children, but it can also be a bit overwhelming,” Louie says, exhaling a huge sigh. “But I just wanted to say, parents, you are doing an amazing job. Remember though, it’s important to take some time for yourself, you know, take care of you.”

He offers up some suggestions including just taking “a moment to breathe.”

“We are all doing the best we can and that is okay. No no — it’s better than okay,” Louie adds. “You hang in there and keep up the great work.”

“If you don’t like it, don’t watch it,” he told Page Six, saying he finds it odd that people would compare the dress to “perverted demon sex.”

“Like, what about me singing with a penguin [on Sesame Street] has anything to do with what I’m doing in my bedroom? The really interesting thing for me is that that’s what it’s all about when it comes to LGBTQ people — the first thing everyone wants to talk about is how we having sex,” Billy clapped back.

“Stay out of my bedroom and you will be fine. That is none of your business,” he added.
