Perry Mason is coming back.

HBO is renewing the drama series for a second season, THR confirmed on Wednesday (July 22).

“It has been an exciting journey to work with the immensely talented team behind Perry Mason. Viewers have relished being transported back in time to 1930s Los Angeles each week, and we are thrilled to welcome the show back for a second season,” said HBO’s Francesca Orsi in a statement.

The show was originally pitched as a feature film for Robert Downey Jr.

If you haven’t watched yet, the show “is based on the character from the Erle Stanley Gardner novels — though it takes place before Mason becomes the defense attorney made familiar by the 1957-66 CBS series. In this Los Angeles noir version, Mason is a low-rent private investigator haunted by his wartime experience in France and suffering from a broken marriage.”

The series stars Matthew Rhys as Mason, with Juliet Rylance, Chris Chalk, Shea Whigham, Tatiana Maslany and John Lithgow also on the cast.

The actors, who starred in the 2000 movie Tigerland, met up shortly after it was announced that the film’s director Joel Schumacher had passed away.

Joel died following a year-long battle with cancer.

Tigerland was the first big movie for both of the actors and Joel is credited with helping to launch their careers in Hollywood. It looks like Colin and Shea met up to reminisce about their time on the movie after hearing about the sad news.

Jaeden Martell will be starring in It: Chapter Two this fall and he has another movie that you should check out – Low Tide!

A trailer was just released for the new film, which will hit theaters on October 4 and be available exclusively on DirecTV on September 5.

Here’s the film’s synopsis: In the long days of summer in a beach town on the New Jersey shore, high schooler Alan (Keean Johnson) and his friends Red (Alex Neustaedter) and Smitty (Daniel Zolghadri) break into vacation homes to steal valuables, funding dates at the boardwalk and lunches at the burger stand. When Alan and his younger brother Peter (Martell) find a bag of gold coins, they try to hide them from the others — but Red, suspicious and violently unpredictable, seems willing to do anything to get the money.

Also starring in the film are Kristine Froseth and Shea Whigham. The movie was written and directed by newcomer Kevin McMullin.

Malin stepped out at The Ray for the premiere of To The Stars. She was joined by her co-stars Shea Whigham, Jordana Spiro, Liana Liberato, Kara Hayward, Adelaide Clemens, Tony Hale, Lucas Jade Zumann, Madisen Beaty, and Sophi Bairley.

Earlier in the day, Malin and the cast stepped out at the Stella Artois & Deadline Sundance Series for a Q&A.

Hilary attended the premiere of her movie I Am Mother that same day at the Eccles Center Theatre.

The 51-year-old Ben Is Back actress hit the blue carpet at the event held at Barker Hangar on Sunday (January 13) in Santa Monica, Calif.

Julia is nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Heidi Bergman in Homecoming.

Joaquin Phoenix, dressed as The Joker, makes a mad dash away from two officers while filming The Joker on Sunday (November 25) in New York City.

The two officers, played by Shea Whigham and Bill Camp, seemed to be chasing him for an action sequence for the upcoming standalone movie about Gotham’s most infamous villain.

Joaquin Phoenix is getting into the action as The Joker!

The 44-year-old actor was spotted filming a dangerous action scene on Sunday (November 18) for the upcoming Joker in the Bronx in New York City.

Joaquin, in full costume and makeup, was seen running at full speed while filming an intense scene where he is being pursued by co-stars Shea Whigham and Bill Camp, who will be playing two Gotham City police detectives.

The scene involved a dangerous stunt where Joaquin‘s stunt double got hit by a taxi while filming under an elevated train station.

Joker is due out in theaters on October 4, 2019.
